Fiat has
launched onto the Italian a Model Year 2012 upgrade for
the Sedici comprising of several new features inside and
out as well as a rejigging of the crossover's trims,
equipment and range starting with a more highly
specified entry level version.
The Sedici was launched in 2006 and is built for Fiat by
Suzuki at it's factory in Hungary. Suzuki badges its
version as the SX4. Fiat has sold 76,000 examples since
launch, with the bulk of sales coming in Italy where the
competitively priced Sedici has carved out a niche. The
Giorgetto Giugiaro designed Sedici received a mid-life
facelift in 2009.
The Sedici MY2012 comes in three trim levels -
'Dynamic', 'Emotion' and 'Experience' - with the usual
choice of two powerplants, a 1.6 16v 120 CV petrol
engine taken from the Suzuki cabinet or Fiat
Powertrain's 2.0 16v Multijet with 135 CV. It comes with
2WD or 4WD, the latter which is on demand, and delivers
torque to the wheels with an even 50/50 split.
For the 2012 Model Year the Sedici, which is 4.11 m
long, sees its three stage trim range confirmed and
adjusted with a more highly specified entry level model.
That new range starter - the 1.6 16v Dynamic 120 CV -
was launched into the Italian showrooms last week. It
comes as standard with air-conditioning, CD radio,
foglamps, ESP and four airbags and costs 14,500 euros
for the 4X2 version and 16,400 euros for the 4X4. Both
are on-the-road prices.
For the new Model Year 2012 a number of improvements
have been wrought to the Sedici. It now comes with new
door mirrors that for the first time incorporate turn
signal repeater lamps with gray-coloured lenses. The new
mirrors feature electric stowing capability and are also
heated on the 'Emotion' level. There is also a new body
colour "Viola Ribelle" (Rebel Purple) while the exterior
changes are completed by a painted roof rack and 16-inch
burnished alloy wheels on the 'Experience' level.
Inside, there is a new trim, 'Grigio Elegante', on the
'Emotion' level while leather is now standard when it is
ordered in the range-topping 'Experience' specification.
Aside from the newly upgraded entry-level 'Dynamic'
trim, the middle 'Emotion' adds window bags and an MP3
player. The highest level, 'Experience', further adds a
5-inch touch NAV screen with integrated CD/MP3 player
and Bluetooth/iPod controls.
