Brazil's
most exciting new car arrival of the year, the new
second-generation Fiat Palio, has won its sixth
prestigious national award since its launch in early
November; the latest honour is in the category of
Melhor Hatch ("Best Hatch") from the news agency
Auto Press.
Responsible for supplying news content to dozens of
newspapers across Brazil with a circulation that exceeds
800,000 copies, the Auto Press accolade is an
important honour for the new Palio which has replaced
the previous long-running "Project World Car" version of
the B-segment hatchback in Fiat's Brazilian model range.
The fourth edition of the Best of the Year 2012
awards by Auto Press, brought together 48
newspaper publishers and internet portals from all over
Brazil, which publish the Auto Press developed
automotive editorial content, to vote on the prize. In
addition to indicating their favored cars in all the
categories, they also have justify each choice.
Amongst the assessments of journalists in regard to the
new Palio (which like the outgoing model is built at
Fiat Automóveis' Betim factory in Brazil), as it was
elected as the champion in the category reserved for
hatchbacks, included favourable summary opinions such as
these these: "It is a completely new car, neat design,
engines compatible with its class and a visibly evolved
finish" as well as "surprised by the quality of the
suspension and powertrain calibration," and "fully
renovated, the new Palio pleases and has everything to
win. "
In addition to this latest award from Auto Press,
the new Palio has already won a string of important
awards in Brazil. The honours delivered so far comprise
of the title of "Car of the Year 2012" by Sport Auto
magazine, "Best Compact 2012" in the "Ten Best" award by
Car and Driver magazine, "National Best Car up to
1,000cc" and "Best National Car 1001 cc to 1599" from
Top Car TV, and "2011 Automotive Best from the
Popular Press" from Abiauto.
