Fiat Automóveis
recorded strong sales of 67,385 cars and light
								commercial vehicles, combined together, during
July in Brazil which meant the Italian carmaker
comfortably retained its usual number one
position in Latin America's biggest country with
								a 23.4 percent market share.
								For the first
seven months of the year, Fiat has produced
433,861 units and it holds onto the Brazilian
market leadership with a 22.5 percent share of
								all registrations.
								In comparison
with the year-to-date period last year, the
brand's sales have grown 5.4 percent, as 411,522
units were registered by Fiat between January
								and July 2010.
								The Brazilian new
car sales results were released by the
Associação Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veículos
Automotores (Anfavea), based on data from
								Renavam.
								If passenger
car sales are split out of the total, Fiat
Automóveis saw 52,947 units registered last
month, with the B-segment Uno (combining the old
and new model) accounting for almost half of
these (24,877 units). That served to give Fiat a
23.8 percent share of the passenger car market
for the month, which ran to 222,661 units in
total. In second place last month was VW with
49,993 sales (a 22.6 percent market share) while
GM (43,154 units) and Ford (20,271 units) were
third and fourth. Fiat's 52,947 sales in July
was down slightly month-on-month (53,777 in June
2011, a 24.2 percent market share) and down
								year-on-year (65,358 units in July 2010, a 23.6
percent market share). All the top four selling
brands in Brazil were down year-on-year for
July. Amongst LCV sales the Fiat Strada pick-up
was the best seller for July with 11,299 units
