Driven on by the Giulietta (above) Alfa
Romeo is on 6,979 registrations for the
year-to-date which gives it a 0.4 percent
share of all German sales so far this year.
Almost seven thousand units sold in seven
months is 61.3 percent up on the same period
last year and makes it the best performing
brand on this market so far this year in
year-on-year terms ahead of Mitsubishi
(+51.7 percent) and Chevrolet (+46.3
percent). |

The Fiat brand continued
to underperform the overall German market though July;
however it was in positive territory in year-on-year
terms (+2.2 percent) as were Alfa Romeo (+20.6 percent)
and Lancia (+130.7 percent), the latter which was the
market's biggest year-on-year winner, albeit coming off
a tiny base. In total 260,907 new cars were sold in
Germany last month, a year-on-year rise of 9.9 percent.
Fiat sold 6,924 cars in Germany last month which was 2.2
percent up on July 2010 and gave it a market share of
2.7 percent. However it didn't help make up any lost
ground as in July 2010 Fiat's sales had crashed by a
half.Alfa Romeo
added 941 cars in July in Germany, that was a rise of
20.6 percent on the same month last year and gave the
sports brand a 0.4 percent share of the market. Alfa
Romeo had seen its own sales plunge 38 percent during
the same month a year ago against the year before so in
July it has clawed back some of this lost ground.
After finally stemming a dramatic decline that has seen
its German sales wiped out over the last two years in
June (when it was up 76.5 percent year-on-year), Lancia
was up again last month with 233 sales which equated to
a year-on-year rise of 130.7 percent. That made Lancia
the best performing brand on this market for July ahead
of Chevrolet, which was up 107.7 percent, although off
the back of 2,569 sales. Lancia's is however starting
from almost scratch, its sales accounted for just 0.01
percent of the market, but the new fourth-generation
Ypsilon should give it a timely boost.
Chrysler Group sold 443 cars in Germany last month but
its individual brand totals aren't broken down. With the
Chrysler and Dodge divisions being dropped from this
market that figure is likely to mostly comprise of the
offroad Jeep brand's sales.
After the first seven months of the year a total of
1,883,486 new cars have been sold in Germany, up 10.4
percent on the same period last year. The Fiat brand is
on 52,207 sales for the year-to-date up 3.9 percent
year-on-year to give it a 2.8 percent share of all
sales.
Alfa Romeo is on 6,979 registrations for the
year-to-date which gives it a 0.4 percent share of all
German sales so far this year. Almost seven thousand
units sold in seven months is 61.3 percent up on the
same period last year and makes it the best performing
brand on this market so far this year in year-on-year
terms ahead of Mitsubishi (+51.7 percent) and Chevrolet
(+46.3 percent). Lancia meanwhile has 986 sales for the
year-to-date and is up 8.4 percent compared to the same
seven month period last year. It has a 0.1 percent share
of all sales on this market for the year-to-date.
