The higher-performance
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 will make its European debut at
the 2011 edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show. On its
stand Jeep will also preview the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6
petrol engine that will power the MY2012 Wrangler and
Wrangler Unlimited while there will be the European
première for the Wrangler's Arctic trim level. Jeep will
also showcase the Grand Cherokee Interior Concept: a
design study developed to try to express elegance,
refinement and craftsmanship.
The SRT8 version of the
brand's flagship Grand Cherokee is powered by the new
6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine producing a less-than-stellar
470 horsepower. The SRT8 displayed for its European
première on the Jeep stand in Frankfurt will feature a
red exterior colour complemented by a red leather
interior. The new generation of the SRT8 is actually the
most powerful and high-speed Jeep vehicle ever produced.
In the spotlights on the
Jeep stand in Frankfurt will be the Grand Cherokee
Interior Concept: a design study created to explore the
stylistic potential of the Jeep flagship, claims the off
road vehicle maker. It has a white-gold exterior and a
soft blue leather interior.
Jeep will also present a new Flex Fuel version of the
3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that will be added to the
MY2012 Grand Cherokee's European lineup. Designed to run
on regular gasoline, the 3.6-litre V6, 286 horsepower
unit of the Jeep flagship will add flex-fuel capability
to run also on E-85.
The theme for the Jeep
stand in Frankfurt is "The Power of a Line": the line
stands for lineage and aims to symbolise Jeep's
heritage. It traces back 70 years to tell the story of
the brand in the automotive industry. Located inside the
Hall 6, the 760-square-metre exhibition area will
feature a functional design. The stand will show
multiple terrains: in the city as well as on extreme
off-road tracks. The columns are transformed into
dynamic elements that, thanks to large LED surfaces,
will interact with the screen placed on the wall in the
background. Here videos will feature the main
characteristics of each Jeep model. The white, gray and
beige colours on the stand's floor mark off around the
show-vehicles the boundaries between sand dunes, snow
drifts and grand city boulevards.
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
The new generation of the
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 model makes its European debut
at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. With the new
6.4-litre HEMI V8 that delivers 470 horsepower and 630
Nm of torque, the best performing Jeep vehicle ever
achieves 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, top speed of 255
km/h and 100-0 km/h braking in 35m. The Grand Cherokee
SRT8 is also the best handling Jeep vehicle ever and
features advanced active damping suspension managed by
Selec-Track system. A new active valve exhaust system
allows standard Fuel Saver Technology to ensure a
13-percent improvement in highway fuel efficiency and
720-km range. The lowered profile, race-inspired
interior and SRT steering wheel with mounted paddle
shifters try to give a performance-oriented styling to
the Jeep flagship and anticipate sporty performance. The
Grand Cherokee SRT8 will be available in Jeep European
dealerships in the first quarter of 2012.
Jeep Wrangler 3.6-litre
Pentastar V6
In Frankfurt, Jeep
introduces the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine that
will be equip the MY2012 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited
as out goes the
unrewarding 3.8-litre V6 unit along with the
equally-elderly and inefficient 4-speed automatic.
The new 3.6-litre V6 powertrain improves Wrangler's
on-road driving dynamics and refinement, providing more
fuel efficiency, more power and more torque. The engine
delivers 284 horsepower and 347 Nm of torque and is
paired the
Mercedes A580 five-speed automatic transmission – both
of which it shares with its sister, the Grand Cherokee.
The six-speed manual transmission will also be available
on the new 3.6-litre Pentastar. Quieter operation and
improved on-road comfort - unknown to the previous
Wrangler generations - combine. The new petrol engine
joins the 2.8-litre turbo diesel powertrain already
available in the European Jeep Wrangler lineup in
combination with a five-speed automatic and a six-speed
manual transmission. The 3.6-litre petrol engine will be
introduced in the Jeep dealerships in Europe starting
November 2011 and will be equipped on the Sport, Sahara
and Rubicon trim levels of Jeep Wrangler and Jeep
Wrangler Unlimited.
Jeep Wrangler Arctic
Based on the Jeep
Wrangler Sahara model, the Arctic trim level has a
winter theme. New trims include an Arctic badge and
decal recall the Jeti, the legendary creature that
according to folk tradition lives in the uncontaminated
nature of the extreme North. With black 17-inch wheels,
Mopar accessories and new interior colours and details,
the Wrangler Arctic is powered by the Pentastar V6
petrol engine matched with the automatic five-speed
transaxle and by the 2.8-litre turbo diesel powertrain
paired to the six-speed manual and five-speed automatic
transmission. The new Arctic model will be introduced in
European Jeep dealerships in the first quarter of 2012
and it will be available for the Wrangler and Wrangler
Unlimited.
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Interior Concept
Jeep will present in
Frankfurt a Grand Cherokee Interior Concept showcar.
With blue leather seats and new interior details, the
concept is a design exercise to show that Jeep may, in the future,
be able to achieve refinement, style and
craftsmanship on its flagship model.
2011 is a special year
for Jeep as it marks together with the brand's 70th
anniversary the renewal of the lineup through the launch
in Europe of four main new products. Starting with the
refreshed Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited equipped with
the Jeep first Stop/Start application together with a
new, more powerful and fuel-efficient diesel engine,
2011 is also the year of the new Grand Cherokee fitted
with VM Motori's 3.0-litre turbo diesel with Multijet II
technology. The brand flagship shares its design cues
with the refreshed Compass, the unloved compact SUV of
the Jeep lineup.
