LAMBORGHINI 350 GT

Legendary former Raging Bull test driver Valentino Balboni will be at the wheel of an historic 350 GT from the Lamborghini museum when he joins more than 90 classic vehicles taking part today in the Rallye Historique at Schloss Bensberg Classics event.

Lamborghini is participating in Schloss Bensberg Classics this weekend. In only a few years, this event showcasing important classic cars has become a respected happening in the auto world. The show takes place annually against the backdrop of Bensberg castle. This year, Lamborghini is presenting the 350 GT while visitors will also have the the opportunity to view the new Aventador LP700-4 sports car.

Today (September 17) will see more than 90 classic vehicles, including the Lamborghini-entered 350 GT, travelling through the Bergische Land hills as they compete in the Rallye Historique. The 350 GT is named after its 3500 cc displacement. Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1964, it boasted an engine which developed 320 hp. A total of 120 examples were produced from 1964 to 1966. The 350 GT, with serial number one, will participate in the rally. The drivers will be the journalist Magret Hucko and Lamborghini former test driver Valentino Balboni. Mr. Balboni was hired by Ferruccio Lamborghini himself and served as a test driver for more than 40 years.

Customers and private collectors can also bring their treasured vehicles to Bensberg. During tomorrow's Concours d’Elégance - the gran finale of the Schloss Bensberg Classics - a jury will appraise 40 of the rarest and most beautiful cars in the world. One of the stars of this event will certainly be Lamborghini's Miura Roadster prototype from 1968.

Also participating in the Concours d’Elégance will be the Espada. The first sports car in automotive history to seat four, the Espada was introduced at the Turin Auto Show in 1968. It can reach a top speed of 245 Km/h. Finally, the Concours will see a 400 GT Monza taking part. This prototype was presented at the Barcelona Motor Show in 1966 and was then sold to a Spanish buyer after the show. The car then vanished for 35 years. In 2005, this Lamborghini was sold to its current owner at an auction. The Lamborghini 350 GT comes from the Lamborghini museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
