For the sixth consecutive
year, Lancia will be a sponsor of the International Film
Festival organised by the Venice Biennial, which runs
from August 31 to September 10. For this event, it will provide the organisers with a fleet of
Lancia models exhibiting the 68th festival logo on their
sides. These cars will take special guests and cinema
stars to the red carpet and drive them to and from the
Lido.
The new Lancia Ypsilon
will be present at the event. This "small flagship",
only 3.84 metres long, blends the best of Italian style,
innovation and environmental friendliness. Moreover, a 5
door version is on offer for the first time, providing
more comfort for lovers of Lancia charm, technological
excellence and unique style. The new Ypsilon, the first
of this new Lancia range that offers a perfectly
balanced blend of refined style, substance and attention
towards customers, has been available since June on the
major European markets and will be introduced, under the
Chrysler brand, in the United Kingdom and Ireland in
September.
After being used at the
previous editions, the Lancia Café initiative is being
trotted out in
Venice once again. This meeting place, set up at the
Hotel Excelsior at the Venice Lido, exhibits a new look.
The Lancia Café, which will move to the pool area of the
Hotel Excelsior, has been restyled and enlarged. It has
grown from 2010's 330 m3 to the current 2,400 m3,
including 400 m3 of covered and air conditioned rooms,
with interview areas. The Lancia Café allows the
festival's stars to meet up in a relaxing environment.
Among this year's novelties, the Lancia Café will host
an exclusive Moët&Chandon champagnerie by the pool.
The Lancia Café will also
host meetings of producers, the media and one-to-one
interviews with directors and actors. During the event,
the Lancia Café will also host events and gatherings
organised by Lancia, by production companies and by
leading magazines and institutions. This year too,
Lancia will sponsor the festival's opening dinner and
the exclusive "after dinner party" at the Lancia Café
immediately after the dinner.
By sponsoring the 68th
Venice International Film Festival, Lancia strengthens
further its links with the world of cinema, a
relationship, confirmed by the direct appearance of
Lancia cars in some famous movies, including "Big Deal
on Madonna Street" in 1958, "The Easy Life" in 1962, "A
Man and a Woman" in 1966, "Deep Red" in 1975 and "Pour
la peau d'un flic" in 1981. In addition, the brand,
since 2006, has been supporting major film festivals,
those which are distinguished by their class, style,
importance and international outlook. Since 2008, the
Lancia Delta has been the official car of some of the
most prestigious film festivals, an the star of
attractive adverts featuring Richard Gere and featured
in a placement in the film "Angels and Demons".
