Asian debut at Auto
Shanghai 2011 for the GranTurismo MC Stradale: The
fastest, lightest and most powerful car in the Maserati
model line-up has made its Chinese debut at the
Shanghai's motor show today.
The introduction of the MC Stradale to the Chinese
market so soon after its global launch is indicative of
China's growing importance to the Modena-based Italian
company.
“The numbers of the first quarter of 2011 are
self-explanatory," Harald Wester, CEO of Maserati, said.
"Deliveries to customers between January and March 2011
doubled to 142 cars compared to 71 in the same period in
2010. Thanks to this result, the Chinese market, which
was in fourth place among the worldwide markets for
Maserati in 2010, is now second only to the U.S."
While the MC Stradale is starring on the Shanghai show
stand, China's 11 Maserati dealers are simultaneously
receiving supplies of the Quattroporte Sport GT S
“Awards Edition”. Maserati registered more than 400
sales in China in 2010, with the best-selling
Quattroporte accounting for 60 percent of the total.
Demand for the Quattroporte in China was so strong in
2010 that it became the large luxury sedan's
second-biggest market worldwide, after the U.S.
