German tuner Anderson has
turned its attention to the Maserati's GranTurismo S
with an under and over the skin makeover which includes
a power hike to 492 bhp as well as carbon-fibre trims,
aprons from the MC Stradale new exhaust system and a
distinctive matte paint finish.
The first noticeable
feature of the Italian sports coupé after its makeover
at Anderson Germany's Dusseldorf base - which has been
dubbed the "GranTurismo S Superior Black Edition" - is
its enveloping matte paint finish which covers all the
surfaces apart from the window frames, front grille and
rear logo which are picked out in a shiny gloss black.
Complementing the distinctive colour-finish changes are
tinted front an rear tail lamps.
The list of exterior
changes continue with a new wheel/tyre combination:
glossy black 21-inch rims with carbon framings that
adhere to the overall 'black' theme of the car. These
wheels are shod with 265 size tyres at the front and 295
tyres at the rear. The new front and rear bumper lower
sections have been drawn from the new GranTurismo
Stradale MC, reprofiled and given a new, more sporty,
finish. The other outside alternations include a new
bonnet and carbon fibre trims for the door mirror
covers, roof length finishing trims, bootlid lip spoiler
and the bezels for the three Trident-trademark wing air
intakes of either side, although some of these items may
well have been drawn from the MC Stradale options
catalogue.
Performance
improvements made to the GranTurismo S by Anderson
Germany start with a new exhaust system which wraps into
twin centre exits and comes with a remotely controllable
valve that allows the driver to choose from two sound
levels. Anderson Germany claims that the new exhaust
system saves 13 kg and improves performance by 12 HP.
Add that to ECU software optimisation and new 'racing'
catalytic convertors and a claimed 492 bhp now comes
from the GranTurismo S (as opposed to the 440 bhp of the
standard car).
Inside the carbon
theme continues with trims finished in carbon,
encompassing the air inlets, door catches, roof switch
panel cover, kick plates, steering wheel, seat
adjustment catches and the radio surround. A new
infotainment system has been fitted with new monitors in
the dashboard and the headrests as well as PS3 player,
loud speaker, subwoofer and amplifier to ensure the
appropriate sound. The interior fabrics (front and rear
seats, door trims and dashboard) are all redone in
"black carbon leather" in a mix that is combined with
the use of black Alcantara, both set off with red piping
and red rhombus seams.
