Since its introduction
in 1978, Iveco's Daily, in all its product evolutions,
has set new firsts, so leading the market on each
occasion and becoming the point of reference for
innovation in the light commercial vehicle sector.
Its truck style
chassis frame, rear wheel drive, direct injection
turbocharged Diesel engine, 4x4 off-road versions,
intercooler, natural gas engines, up to 17,2 m3 loading
volume and 210 cm internal height, common rail fuel
injection, 6-speed transmissions and 7 tons maximum
permitted mass. These are the strengths that summarises
the history of an undisputed star in the light
commercial vehicle market, which has led to the sale of
over two million units.
The key to Daily’s
success is in its ability to evolve whilst remaining
true to itself, confirming on the one hand the values
that characterise its DNA (reliability, efficiency,
versatility) and, on the other, continuing to respect
the environment with excellent results also in terms of
performance, durability and hardiness.
New Daily brings
renewed engines and a host of other features. The model
has always been recognised with the fame of "Champion of
Mobility" for its ability to offer low fuel consumption
and low running costs. And today new Daily excels,
expanding its offer of FPT Industrial engines with three
new versions: 1. The most powerful Diesel engine in its
segment, the Euro 5, 3 litre Twin Turbo, rated at 205 cv
(150 kW) with a maximum torque of 470 Nm. It represents
the first 4 cylinder Diesel engine in its class to
exceed the threshold of 200 cv, thanks to the adoption
of a new two stage turbocharger with inter-stage charge
cooling technology. 2. The new Euro 5 2.3 litre Diesel
engine at 146 cv (107 kW) with a torque of 350 Nm, with
a new variable geometry turbocharger and the exclusive
Multijet II fuel injection technology, optimised to
provide the maximum operating efficiency. 3. A new EEV
version of the 3 litre Diesel engine, rated at 146 cv
and 370 Nm with a variable geometry turbocharger
completes the new engine range, offering tail-pipe
emissions of particulate matter well below the levels
required by the homologation standard.
The range also
features the Natural Power Bi-fuel version, powered by
the super-ecological EEV engine, optimised for operation
on natural gas, with a small gasoline tank for use in
case of emergency. And the zero-emission Daily
electric, designed, produced and marketed directly by
Iveco.
But this is not all,
because the driver, as well as enjoying the benefits of
these new engines, can improve and optimize his driving
style with new technologies like the Stop & Start
functionality and the GSI (Gear Shift Indicator) system,
by which the driver can better manage his way of
driving. These functionalities, in combination with the
new 6 speed transmission offered with the 2.3 litre
Diesel versions, brings reductions in fuel consumption
and consequent CO2 emissions of up to 10% compared to
the previous model.
A new front clip makes
the New Daily immediately recognisable. The redesigned
front end features the new radiator grille, designed to
accommodate the new engine cooling system, new headlamps
units incorporating DRL (Daytime Running Lights) and new
fog lights with Fog Cornering functionality, operable at
road speeds up to 40 km/h permitting improved visibility
and safety by illuminating the road when cornering.
Innovative styling and
a range of powerful engines: But New Daily is also
synonymous with comfort and driving pleasure. Also these
aspects have been the result of improvements, thanks to
a review of the driver’s cab interior. A new axial
adjustable steering column and a greater range of seat
and seat back adjustment have been introduced, while the
ergonomics of the driver’s movements and ease of
crossing the cab is improved by repositioning the gear
lever housing. Also new is the desmodromic door and
ignition key that, thanks to the 10,000 key
combinations, offers improved protection against
unauthorised access to the vehicle.
Several configurable
storage compartments are inside the vehicle, including a
shelf located above the windshield, a large 6 litre
container under the passenger's two-seater bench and a
functional support, housed in the passenger seat back,
with a clip-board that can be mounted onto the steering
wheel to serve as a writing desk. The compartment can
also be used to house a notebook PC, or tablet, such as
an iPad.
The New Daily sees the
introduction of the latest generation ESP 9 system,
featuring active sensors, and including, in addition to
ABS, EBD, ASR (traction control) and MSR (Engine
over-run manager), Hill Holder (Hill start assistant)
and LAC (Active load control), new features such as HFCs
(Hydraulic brake fade control), RMI (Roll movement
intervention), ROM (Roll over mitigation) and TSM
(selective braking enhancing vehicle and trailer dynamic
stability).
State of the art
technological innovation applied to New Daily is also in
the field of information telematics, offering the
Blue&Me system, the hardware solution designed by Fiat
and Microsoft, to ensure the best communication services
for those at the wheel, and Blue&Me Fleet, the fleet
management telematics package, developed in
collaboration with Qualcomm. There is also the latest
generation TomTom Go Live 1000 navigator, with a 4.7”
fluid touch screen, with HD Traffic and IQ Routes
technology able to constantly calculate and suggest
better routes.
Finally, the New Daily
is presented today with a new offer that remains
detailed and diversified: In short, the combinations
available of chassis, engine, wheelbase and specific
versions, amount to over 7000 different configurations,
arranged as goods vehicles, passenger carrying vehicles
and platforms for a vast range of conversions and
specific body and equipment installations. In
particular, the New Daily offers transport professionals
a range of vans with 8 different loading volumes, from 7
to 17,2 m3 with a useful payload of up to more than 4

addition to the driver. Also available are 270 degree
wide-opening rear doors that can fold back to the van
sides, while the sliding doors are available on the
right, left or both sides to provide excellent loading
access.
Rear-wheel drive
provides maximum traction, even on poor road surfaces.
On request, a mechanical differential lock is available
that effectively locks the axle shafts together to
provide outstanding tyre-road grip and hence the maximum
ability to perform. The differential lock can be
activated simply by a dash-board mounted control and can
be combined with the ESP system.
For the most demanding
professional applications, the new Daily 4x4 version is
also available: With its 3 differential locks, the
permanent all-wheel drive, the low drive range and large
specific tire is unsurpassed under all conditions. The
6-speed gearbox is coupled to the central transfer box
with two reductions to obtain 24 forward and 4 reverse
drive ratios.
Euro 5 and EEV
engines, the most powerful in its category
New Daily benefits
from the innovative technology made available by sister
company, FPT Industrial, in the guise of its 2.3 and 3
litre engines, its class leading 5 and 6 speed
transmissions, including the Agile automated 6 speed
transmission, and its rear drive axle with a selection
of axle ratios to ensure the very best in terms of
performance, economy and respect for the environment.
The flag-ship of the
New Daily drive train is the FPT Industrial Euro 5, 3
litre Twin Turbo Diesel engine developing a class
leading power of 205 cv (150 kW) and a maximum torque of
470 Nm., the most powerful engine in its sector. With
conventional post turbocharger charge cooling, this new
two stage turbocharger system includes an intermediate
stage charge cooler between the first stage and the
second resulting in considerable efficiency and
performance benefits. The engine uses a common rail fuel
injection system with piezoelectric actuators, allowing
the optimisation of the combustion process and reducing
pollutant emissions and fuel consumption.
This 3 litre Diesel
engine is also available at two further ratings: 170 cv
(125 kW), 400 Nm version employing a new high efficiency
VGT (variable geometry turbocharger) and at 146 cv (107
kW), 350 Nm, employing a fixed geometry turbocharger
with waste-gate valve, both ratings meeting the Euro 5
emissions standard. Homologated according to the heavy
duty regime to the EEV (Enhanced
Environmentally-friendly Vehicle) standard, there are
three FPT Industrial engines available: 170 cv (125 kW)
with maximum torque of 400 Nm with two stage
turbocharger, a new 146 cv (107 kW) variant with 370 Nm
of torque, thanks to its new variable geometry
turbocharger and the Natural Power variant for use with
natural gas, rated at 136 cv (100 kW), already very well
respected for its incredibly low exhaust tail-pipe
emissions that are already within the Euro VI heavy duty
exhaust emission limits that will enter into force in
2014.
The new FPT Industrial
2.3 litre Euro 5 Diesel engine rated at 146 cv (107 kW)
and peak torque of 350 Nm features the new Multijet II
common rail multi event fuel injection system that, with
up to 8 injection events per cycle, allows class leading
injection rate shape profiling to allow very low engine
noise, reduced engine-out emissions and outstanding fuel
economy. The engine is also available at ratings of 106
cv (78 kW) with a maximum torque of 270 Nm and 126 cv
(93 kW) with an increased maximum torque of 320 Nm. Both
of these engines use a fixed geometry turbocharger with
waste-gate valve.
All FPT Industrial
Diesel engines employ the new advanced exhaust gas
recirculation with enhanced electrical EGR mixing,
ensuring homogeneous gas distribution among the engine
cylinders and exhaust after-treatment by means of an
oxidising catalyst and Diesel particulate filter. The
new Euro 5 2.3 litre engines are available with Start &
Stop, the GSI (Gear Shift Indicator) and new 6 speed
transmissions, features that allow a fuel consumption
and CO2 emission saving of up to 10%.
The New Daily
transmissions feature two new aspects: an entirely new
6-speed transmission for the 2.3 litre version and a
specific 6 speed version for the new 3 litre engine
rated at 205 cv (150 kW) and 470 Nm of torque, both
characterised by the double ratios overdrive for maximum
fuel economy. For urban missions, the Agile automated 6
speed transmission is available. The Agile transmission
selects the correct gear based on the engine speed and
load, reducing driver fatigue and component wear. It can
be used in both fully automatic and sequential modes.
The choice of technological solutions with the New Daily
serves to obtain both high-performance, fuel economy and
respect for the environment.
Respect for the
environment
New Daily 2.3 litre
engine versions introduce the Start & Stop system, which
shuts off the engine when the vehicle stops with the
transmission in neutral and restarts automatically when
a gear is selected. With this system a reduction in CO2
emissions of 9 g/km on the combined cycle rising to 23 g
/ km on the urban cycle.
In support of the
driver, the GSI (Gear Shift Indicator) system has also
been introduced, recommending to the driver that the
transmission gear be changed in order to obtain a
driving style with the lowest fuel consumption and
emissions of CO2. The new variable geometry turbocharger
and the new high efficiency two stage turbocharger with
the inter-stage inter-cooling provide among the best in
class engine efficiencies, serving to improve fuel
economy and to reduce pollutant emissions.
Environmental
protection is a strategic priority for Iveco. The
ecological aspect of the New Daily does not stop only at
reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, but
also concerns the production aspects of the vehicle. The
commitment to reduce the environmental impact of Iveco
vehicles is demonstrated by the World Class
Manufacturing project, introduced a number of years ago
by Fiat Industrial production systems, in choosing to
adopt one of the best worldwide production standards. An
integrated model concerning the organisation of factory
processes as a whole and paying particular attention to
safety, waste avoidance and environmental aspects of
production.
A further important
aspect related to environmental care is Iveco’s position
of leadership regarding the recyclability of the
product. Iveco has played a leading role for many years
in the application of recycling and recovery of
material, applied throughout the entire industrial chain
of activities that make up the vehicle, once it reaches
the end of its useful life.
Alternative
Traction Systems with New Daily
Aware of the
importance of the theme of environmental protection,
Iveco has always devoted particular attention to highly
innovative drive systems, which can provide a
considerable saving in fuel consumption and CO2
emissions in addition to ensuring the highest standards
in terms of reducing pollutant emissions. Technological
innovation at the service of customers in the New Daily
is evidenced by the availability of specific versions
using natural gas, electric and Diesel electric hybrid
power trains. Both natural gas and electric versions are
readily available and the Diesel electric hybrid version
has undergone prolonged validation testing with
important international customers under real operating
conditions.
New Daily Electric
Iveco, a front runner
in this kind of technology, developed and built the
first electrically propelled Daily in 1986 and the range
has now been extended to include vans and urban buses.
Today, the advanced electrical architecture and control,
incorporating a dedicated electronic controller with
in-vehicle communication using the CAN network and the
proven Na/NiCl2 battery technology, allows New Daily to
achieve a high level of reliability and to adapt
perfectly to operation under urban conditions, such as
door to door deliveries and urban passenger transport.
This fully electric powered vehicle with zero tail-pipe
emissions is designed, manufactured, sold and serviced
totally by Iveco. A high energy storage battery in
combination with electronic inverter powers the
asynchronous three-phase traction motor that directly
powers the vehicle and recovers the vehicle’s kinetic
energy under braking. Motor power is 30kW continuous
(60kW peak) for 35S models (van, and chassis cab
versions) and 40kW continuous (80kW peak) for 50C models
(van and chassis cab versions).
Equipped with sealed
traction batteries using Na/NiCl2 technology
(Sodium/Nickel-Chloride), that does not produce gaseous
emissions and is fully recyclable, with a system voltage
of 278 v, the 35S vehicles are equipped with two
batteries with a third optionally available on long
wheelbase models and 50C models have three batteries
with a fourth optionally available, again depending on
wheelbase, with a system of regenerative braking system
to extend further the vehicle range. The vehicle speed
is electronically limited to 70 km/h with a usable range
from 90 – 130 km, depending on the mission and the
number of batteries.
New Daily Natural
Power
Iveco has always
attached great importance to natural gas engines that
have been a research and development priority for many
years. The company is the European leader in the
production and marketing of these vehicles: trucks, vans
and buses for different types of mission and, in
particular, for urban use.
The New Daily Natural
Power is the lightest vehicle in this full range offer
and is equipped with an FPT Industrial CNG engine of 136
cv (100 kW) with three way catalytic converter, using a
stoichiometric (with chemically correct air-fuel ratio)
combustion regime that brings characteristics of
reliability and durability and ensures exhaust emissions
well below the limits required by the European EEV
legislation in force. This system can actually detect
the composition of the gas used and is able to adapt the
actual air/fuel ratio accordingly, in order to maintain
low emissions without sacrificing performance.
The positive ignition
results in engine noise significantly lower than that of
a Diesel equivalent, so that these vehicles are
particularly suitable for night-time use in urban
centres, without requiring additional sound insulation
measures. The New Daily, like all other Iveco vehicles
powered by natural gas can also use bio-methane, one of
the sources of renewable energy with the best
credentials in terms of reducing emissions of global
warming gases.
Safety on board, a
reliable companion
Iveco believes
strongly in a future when transport is fully
sustainable, and this doesn’t stop with its ecological
vocation. Of vital importance is also road safety and
Iveco offers the maximum in terms of safety with
excellent vehicle handling under all loading conditions,
as well as an improved quality of life on board. Daily
was one of the first commercial vehicles to specify disc
brakes all round as a safety measure.
Introduced for New
Daily are new headlamp units incorporating day-time
running lights (DRL) and new fog lights incorporated in
the front bumper with a cornering function. With this
feature, the relevant fog light is switched on
automatically when cornering to illuminate the road in
the direction the vehicle will take.
New Daily makes
available the advanced vehicle stability control system
known as ESP 9. This system builds on and enhances the
features of the stability control system available with
previous Daily models that comprised ABS (ant-lock
brakes), EBD (electronic brake force distribution), ASR
(traction control), MSR (engine speed management to
control engine over-run braking), ESP (stability
control), HBA (hydraulic brake assist to ensure
emergency braking is as effective as possible), Hill
Holder and LAC (load adaptive braking control). The new
ESP 9 features include:
TSM |
Trailer Sway Mitigation - selectively applies
the vehicle brakes in the event of detecting
trailer sway. |
HRB |
Hydraulic Rear Wheel Boost - increases rear axle
brake force when front axle ABS activity is
detected in order to reduce braking distance. |
HFC |
Hydraulic Brake Fade Control - detects the
reduced braking force associated with brake fade
and automatically increases braking effort to
compensate. |
RMI
& ROM |
Roll
Movement Intervention & Roll Over Mitigation
works by detecting critical lateral acceleration
when cornering and reacts by modulating engine
torque and by increasing braking pressure at the
relevant wheels. |
Comfort and driving
pleasure
New Daily continues
its tradition of a vehicle born "for" and "around" the
man. The vehicle has been designed and built with
customers’ mobility needs at the centre. To achieve
this, specific solutions have been adopted to ensure
more comfortable driving, to meet a new dimension in
terms of the pleasure of "being on-board" a commercial
vehicle in its broadest sense.
Well-being on board
regards the New Daily driver’s cab as a whole. The lines
that run inside the vehicle are harmonious and well
balanced with those of the exterior, and together with
the ample glazed surface creates an environment that is
warm, bright and able to offer an optimal living area,
that is roomy and comfortable, and much higher in terms
of comfort, ergonomics and space available to the driver
and passengers. Interior noise is reduced, thanks to the
meticulous work of designers, particularly relating to
the engine compartment, which has achieved a noise
reduction of 5 dB(A) under the most common operating
conditions (between 1600 and 2000 rev/min).
To make working and
travelling aboard more comfortable, in the New Daily
there are important changes concerning the driving
position. A new axially adjustable steering column, in
combination with a seat and seat back with a greater
range of adjustment in van versions, enables more
drivers to find the optimum position for safe driving
and comfort. Moreover, even the dashboard has been
revisited, with new finishes and new graphics for
improved readability of the instrument panel. Also new
is the gear lever housing so allowing for an improved
cross-cab access - and the double-bottle holders
compartment in the door (from 0.5 to 1.5 L).
The improvement in the
comfort of life on board also reflects on customer
requirements relating to the use of the cab as a mobile
workstation. On request, there is a pull-out shelf,
stored in the passenger seat back, that can be removed
and applied to the steering wheel to create a temporary
writing desk. It also serves as a small compartment for
a pc notebook or iPad.
But the pleasure of
being aboard the New Daily is especially highlighted on
the road, where the vehicle has excellent handling and
control. Driving comfort and dynamic behaviour have
always been distinctive features of this model. The
truck-derived chassis, which is a guarantee of maximum
strength under all circumstances of driving and loading,
independent front suspension and vehicle’s beam rear
axle provide excellent performance in terms of ability
to absorb road undulations, linearity and precision
steering response, in addition to road holding and
stability when manoeuvring.
The quality of life on
board of the New Daily is further improved by the
availability of solutions that assist customers to
increase the productivity of vehicle and driver by means
of information telematics. The Blue&Me and Blue&Me
Fleet, in addition to the Tom Tom Go Live 1000, are
evidence that the New Daily is not content only to
assist customers by helping them to carry heavy loads,
but always tries to reduce effectively the work of those
choosing it as an operating partner.
Born from the
collaboration between Fiat and Microsoft, the Blue&Me
has changed the paradigms of communication, information
and entertainment to improve comfort and quality of life
on board the vehicle. With over 1,500,000 units
installed it is the most popular board infotainment
platform in the world, which allows making telephone
calls, receiving SMS, managing contacts through the
phone's Bluetooth connection and MP3 music through media
player with a USB connection.
Blue&Me Fleet, on the other side, is the telematics
package for fleet management, realised by Iveco in
collaboration with Qualcomm Enterprise Services, a
leading global system and integrated 'wireless' service
provider. With Blue&Me Fleet, it is possible to have
real-time information on fuel consumption, distance
travelled, road speed and the vehicle identification
data. The digital tachograph data can also be downloaded
remotely, eliminating the need to have the vehicle
physically available for this legally required
procedure.
Finally, the new Tom
Tom Navigator, Go Live 1000, is also available with its
4.7” fluid touch screen, which constantly provides the
driver with traffic information and faster updated route
suggestions. With HD Traffic and IQ Routes technologies,
in fact, it is able to calculate the route based on
actual speed data collected by millions of users.
Iveco Irisbus New
Daily for passenger transport

Iveco Capital
Financial Services
For over 20 years,
Iveco Capital has provided assistance to customers in
the purchase of all new and used light, medium and heavy
Iveco vehicles with dedicated financial services,
following a strategy of strong specialisation in the
business and wide geographical presence. The company
works with major international banking groups,
integrating flexibility and financial expertise with an
understanding of the unique needs in the world of
transport. It supports Iveco customers with the specific
needs of different markets and has over 43,000 customers
around the world.
To buy a New Daily,
for example, the customer has several solutions to
choose from according to their financial needs.
Financial leasing is aimed at businesses who want to use
the vehicle for their activities, without a serious
investment on their balance sheet because the ownership
of the vehicle remains with the finance company. An
operating lease allows the customer to use the vehicle
and replace it at the end of the agreed period by
defining from the start the economic and financial
commitment by setting a monthly fee in relation to
actual needs, without other commitments at the end of
the lease and without affecting either the liquidity of
the company or the bank credit lines. Regular
installment finance, however, is the ideal solution for
those who want ownership of the vehicle and intend to
use it for a long period of time.
All these formulae can
be integrated into a contract for routine maintenance
and repairs, also valid abroad. The three major
contracts for Iveco maintenance are: Full (includes all
planned and un-planned maintenance covering the complete
vehicle), Driveline (includes all routine maintenance in
addition to specific assistance for the powertrain) and
Fast (includes only routine maintenance).
A new hero for
transport professionals
The Daily was born
with the characteristics of a leader. It was designed
from the outset to faithfully carry out its task to
better serve those who drive it: making deliveries,
transporting goods, transporting people. Not to mention
those who use a motor home based on a Daily to enjoy
their free time. The New Daily is, therefore, the real
answer for transport professionals, discerning customers
seeking reliability, versatility and productivity. This
is the recipe that gives rise to the Daily as we know,
the imprint of its specific DNA. Offered in several van,
chassis cab and minibus versions, the New Daily confirms
itself to be a “Super” vehicle: the most solid and
reliable in its segment. Born with the support of a true
truck chassis with a longitudinally mounted engine,
rear-wheel drive with robust suspension, with a high
seating position, the New Daily today adds a range of
high-power engines and innovative features.
In its latest
evolution, Daily embodies qualities and values
inherent in its "strong and professional" nature and
develops them even further by becoming a super ally for
work, each and every day. Every mission can be carried
out with comfort, safety and performance with the New
Daily, a vehicle that guarantees maximum versatility in
urban centres with its cutting edge technology and
innovative design. A rugged vehicle at the service of
transport professionals that always carries out its
daily work with diligence, which is reliable even though
it never needs to rest, but that is always economical,
efficient and versatile.
Here, then, a renewed
and articulate range offering a wide number of body
solutions and options, different in each market, the
most powerful Diesel engine in the category with its
Twin Turbo 205 cv and a maximum torque of 470 Nm, a
reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to
10% - thanks to the possibility of exploiting the high
torque engine combined with the new double-overdrive
transmission - a ride comfort and a truly enviable
safety system. In addition to this meticulous work of
optimising the comfort of life on board: renewed
interior trim with new colors, new practical solutions
to improve liveability and usability of the work space
and improved gear shift, seat and pedals ergonomics.
The New Daily is once
again, a working vehicle offering accessible transport
to all, the leader in productivity and versatility in
its class, perfect for every type of road, load and
mission. A true "Super" vehicle that leads professionals
to declare without any hesitation: "This is a job for
New Daily".
