Magneti
Marelli Powertrain India Limited - a joint venture
between Magneti Marelli, Maruti Suzuki and Suzuki Motor
Corporation, Japan - closed the calendar year of 2010 by
crossing the production mark of 500,000 ECUs (Engine
Control Units) since it started producing the component
in India in August 2008. This important milestone was
achieved in company’s plant at Manesar - the industrial
district of Gurgaon, 40 kilometres from New Delhi.
						To
celebrate this landmark achievement, a ceremony was held
in Manesar plant. It was attended by Mr. Eugenio
Razelli, CEO of Magneti Marelli and Mr. Shinzo
Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO along with Mr. S.
Maitra, Managing Executive Officer, Supply Chain of
						Maruti Suzuki.
						The
ECUs, both Diesel and Gasoline, made in Manesar are
devoted to the Indian and International Market and they
are fitted on several car models produced by Maruti
Suzuki, Fiat India, Tata Motors and Volkswagen.
						During
the ceremony at the joint venture factory, a production
line was inaugurated for the new YY4 diesel control
units, which will join the current units and will allow, in 2011, to reach the target
of one million ECUs to be produced.
						This
is an important result in a strategic market that in
2010 experienced 30 percent growth when compared to
						2009, according to
IHS Global Insight, and it is a market in which Magneti Marelli
participates in no less than six joint ventures and can count on
						seven
production plants that cover the Company’s entire
						industrial perimeter.
