The
one off barchetta version of the Codatronca, penned by
Paolo and Ercole Spada and Domiziano Boschi of
Spadaconcept, and built by Spadavetturesport, has been
created especially for Aznom, the Monza-based niche
luxury specialist and a partner of Spadavetturesport, it
has been revealled today.
Aznom fitted out the interior design of the new sports
car. The company wanted a unique showcase vehicle which
was dedicated to the Monza circuit to present at luxury
events and to strengthen the connection between the
world of car design and the world of luxury.
The
one off Codatronca Monza is based on the line of the
Corvette Z06-based Codatronca coupé which was first
shown in public at Top Marques Monaco three years
ago but has much more extreme characteristics: its
design and racing interiors aim bring back to memory the
spyders of the 1960s according to Spadaconcept.
Aznom chose Monza due its attachment with the city that
is home to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, which recently
was the main stage of the Cars 2 presentation. On that
occasion Codatronca Monza was chosen as a VipCar
for its uniqueness. The Codatronca Monza will be only a
one off, but Spadaconcept says it will produce a spyder
(barchetta) version of the Codatronca on customer
demand.
The
Codatronca Monza has a tubular chassis made of aluminium
that has been coated with a mix light carbon fibre and
composite materials body. The engine was developed by
Italtecnica starting from a from the donor Corvette's
7-litre V8 engine. Now two Rotrex centrifugal
superchargers deliver a claimed 720 CV with over 90 kgm
of torque. The open-topped sports car is able to reach
100 km/h in a claimed 3 seconds (in first gear) thanks
to the 6 speed transmission with a very short gear
ratio, and to reach a claimed top speed of 335 km/h.
The weight of the car is only of 1,180 kg, thanks to the
racing interior requested by Aznom which features Sabelt-supplied
seats and belts, and an Aim steering wheel that
integrates the instruments with data acquisition (can,
GPS). The on board camera, Aim Smartycam, records HD
videos with the overlay of the telemetry and data
captured by the steering wheel. The technical package is
completed with Pirelli PZero Corsa tyres mounted on
lightweight Oz Ultra-leggera wheels, and Brembo brakes
as used for cars in FIA GT3 racing with ABS and a fully
adjustable suspension system also derived from the FIA
GT3 class Corvette.
The
Italian comppany hopes that the Monza Codatronca will
inspire a new stock model for street use for all the
spyder lovers and says that the Barchetta Codatronca, as
well as the Codatronca Monza, are now available on
demand from Spadaconcept Srl and Aznom Srl.
