30.03.2012 FIAT JOINS "OUR FUTURE MOBILITY NOW" INITIATIVE

FIAT 500 TWINAIR

In April, "Our Future Mobility Now", will be joining forces with Fiat Group Automobiles to explore the subject of 'sustainable mobility'. "Our Future Mobility Now" is a project that brings together the mobile generation of the future and Europe's leading vehicle manufacturers. Aimed at young people (18-30 years), the community project imagines how the vehicles and transport we use will evolve and influence 21st Century life.

On the occasion of this important European collaboration, Fiat Group Automobiles has developed a number of activities that revolve around the concepts of sustainable mobility and innovation. It is a field in which Fiat Group has always been a leader as proven, for example, by the recent record certified by JATO Dynamics, the world's leading automotive consultancy and research firm. For the fifth year running, Fiat Automobiles is the brand which has recorded the lowest level of CO2 emissions by vehicles sold in Europe in 2011, with an average value of 118.2 g/km (4.9 g/km less than the 2010 average). Fiat also ranked first as Group, with 123.3 g/km, an improvement of 2.6 g/km on last year.

One of the new initiatives worthy of note is the virtual game "eco:Drive Virtual Challenge", an exciting online game that, in addition to revealing the secrets of becoming an excellent ecodriver, will reward the player that achieves the best score with a special weekend for two in Turin.

Accessible from the "Our Future Mobility Now" website, the challenge will open on 5 April and end on 27 April. However, users of the Fiat-  and eco:Drive-Facebook pages can try out a preview of the game from today, in order to get a head start in preparing for the online competition. In addition to being fun, "eco:Drive Virtual Challenge" represents an incentive for young people to tackle one of the most important goals of the second millennium: cutting CO2 production, including through eco-sustainable and responsible driving.

Moreover, Fiat's sustainable mobility strategies will take centre stage on 5 and 27 April. They will be explained and discussed with the Internet population during two dedicated webinars, thanks to which users can interact in real time with the Fiat experts.

The first webinar, "Sustainable Mobility with Fiat", is scheduled for 5 April. Maurizio Consalvo (EMEA Product Planning - Powertrain Portfolio & Features Planning Director, Fiat) and Massimo Cavazzini (responsible for Product Concept - Infotainment Services and global lead for eco:Drive) will be online and explain Fiat Group Automobiles research and initiatives regarding the topic of sustainable mobility. This research sets out to develop environmentally-friendly solutions available to everyone concerning the entire life cycle of vehicles: from their production to final disposal.

On 27 April, the second webinar "eco:Drive with Fiat" will be online and will announce the winner of the "eco:Drive Virtual Challenge". It will be dedicated to a discussion on climate change and to the challenge that this represents, and is also open to all those involved: institutions, organisations and above all drivers. Massimo Cavazzini and Pavel Ivanov (Marketing Brand Fiat) will explain the project and the eco:Drive application in detail. It has proven how much responsible and eco-friendly driving can contribute to considerably cutting down the CO2 emissions of vehicles.

There are numerous channels thanks to which the users can ask their questions and to be updated on the activities in real time: from the Fiat and "Our Future Mobility Now" Facebook pages to Twitter, as well as through the videochats enabled on the "Our Future Mobility Now" site during the webinars.

Then, since "Our Mobility Future Now" is above all a project designed to involve and communicate with young people throughout Europe, Fiat will give voice, space and visibility to a few of its young professionals - from Product Managers to Researchers - who will talk about the issue of sustainability mobility from their personal and professional points of view in individual video interviews.
