The Fiat
500 has just notched up its 100,000th unit sold in the
UK, four and a half years since its launch into this
market. This milestone follows on from April’s official
UK sales figures which revealled that the 500 had
returned to the top 10 best sellers with 2,600 vehicles
sold.The
100,000 sales so far have been broken down by Fiat UK
and reveal that 80 per cent of all 500 sales have been
the 1.2-litre petrol engine version, eight per cent of
sales have come from the new 0.9-litre two cylinder
TwinAir version, which was introduced in the UK in 2010;
48 per cent of cars purchased have been fitted out in
the top-of-the-range 'Lounge' trim, while the most
popular colour choices are Bossanova white, Pasodoble
red, Volare light blue and the metallic Crossover black.
The Fiat 500 won the
most important European automotive award, Car of the
Year, in 2008, while it has since won an number of
automotive sector media awards in the UK since then,
including Fleet World Honours Best City Car
(2011), BusinessCar Awards City Car of the Year
(2011), What Car? Green Awards Supermini
(2010), GreenFleet Awards City Car of the Year
(2009), Auto Express Best City Car (2008) and
Auto 1 Awards Small and Compact Vehicle (2008).
The three door
hatchback has been released, since its launch, in a
number of limited edition versions which have bolstered
its run up to the 100,000 unit threshold in the UK;
these include the 500 Pink, 500 Matt Black, 500byGucci,
and 500byDiesel.

am sure that we will see many more sales successes in
the years to come.”
The 500 is available
in the UK with a choice of three engines, 85bhp
0.9-litre TwinAir, 69 bhp 1.2-litre and 95 bhp 1.3-litre
MultiJet turbodiesel, and has a starting price of just
£9,960 on-the-road for the 1.2 in entry-level 'Pop'
trim.
