Fiat
Group Automobiles enjoyed a mixed February in the UK,
the Fiat brand enjoyed some more much needed respite to
recent pressures, and was up 7.45 percent against a
falling market although Alfa Romeo lost ground, dropping
						18.66 percent.

In total just 61,868 cars were sold in the UK during
February, a month where registrations traditionally dry
up ahead of the new plate change. That was relatively
flat (-2.45 percent) on February 2011 when 61,868 cars
						were sold.
						Fiat
has come under intense pressure in the UK over the last
year as it has dropped away into niche status, however
February was more promising as 1,443 registrations
compared to 1,343 during the same month a year ago was
up 7.45 percent to comfortably beat the market. It built
on January when the Fiat brand was up 16 percent
year-on-year (and against a flat market) making it two
consecutive positive months. As a result the Fiat
brand's market share for the month just gone climbed
from 2.12 percent last year to 2.33 percent this year.

Alfa Romeo sold 231 cars in the UK during February and
when compared to 284 during the same month a year ago
that was a fall of 18.66 percent. As a result its market
share slipped from 0.45 percent in February 2011 to 0.37
percent last month. Abarth sold 31 cars in February, 4
less than during the same month a year ago, a drop of
						11.43 percent.

Fiat Group Automobiles now counts the Chrysler and
Jeep brands under its wing and both saw their volumes
rising year-on-year last month, albeit both only of nominal volumes.
Chrysler sold 50 cars, up 177.78 percent year-on-year,
while Jeep posted 80 registrations, which was up 81.82
percent. Elsewhere Maserati, which has also seen UK
sales come under pressure, sold 15 cars last month, up 4
						units and 36.36 percent year-on-year.

After the first two months of the new year the UK market
is mirroring the start of last year with 190,721
registrations in 2012 compared to 192,235 during the
same period in 2011, a relatively flat performance
(-0.79 percent). The Fiat brand is enjoying a steady
start to the year, 4,329 sales after two months when
compared to 3,831 units during the same period last year
is a steady rise of 13 percent, well ahead of the
overall market. As a result Fiat's year-to-date market
share edges up from 1.99 percent in 2011 to 2.27 in
						2012.

Alfa Romeo however continues its perpetual sales
rollercoaster and 769 registrations for the year-to-date
is 110 units and 12.51 percent down on the same period
last year. It's market share for the opening two months
contracts from 0.46 percent in 2011 to 0.40 percent in
2012. Abarth has managed 80 sales for the year-to-date
which is down 33 units and 29.20 percent year-on-year.
The Scorpion's year-to-date market share thus slips from
						0.06 percent in 2011 to 0.04 percent in 2012.
						The
Chrysler brand has 148 sales for the year-to-date, which
is double last year's tally for this period, while Jeep
is on 238 units, up 91.94 percent. Finally Maserati has
51 sales to the end of February, up 3 units and 6.25
						percent year-on-year.
