					Fiat
Group wasn't able to ride out another troubled month in
Italy as its sales dropped 23.48 percent during June to
39,421 units, although its market share remained
virtually flat at just over 30 percent. In total 128,388
new cars were sold in Italy during June, a fall of 24.42
percent, according to automotive trade body UNRAE.

Fiat Group lost twelve thousand units year-on-year in
Italy during June, however it mildly outperformed the
overall market meaning its share for the month was up
						0.37 percent to 30.70 percent.

All the Italian carmaker's portfolio of brands
struggled. The Fiat brand was down 24.70 percent to
27,803 units although that kept its market share flat at
21.66 percent, while Lancia was down 12.04 percent to
7,215 units which however easily beat the market and
raised its share from 4.83 to 5.62 percent year-on-year.
Alfa Romeo was down 29.82 percent to 3,864 units which
gave it a 3.01 percent market share for June.

The niche brands also struggled, Jeep was down 35.01
percent to 505 units, while the Fiat Group's two
luxury/performance brands, Ferrari and Maserati, both
suffered last month. The Maranello sports car maker was
down 66.07 percent to 19 cars while the Trident lost
						69.39 percent to 15 units.

For the year-to-date a total of 814,179 new cars have
been sold in Italy, down 19.73 percent on the first half
of last year. Fiat Group has amassed 240,736 sales to
the end of June, down 20.12 percent and sixty thousand
units on the same period last year. That mirrors the
overall market which means its share of all sales is
						virtually unchanged at 29.57 percent.

The Fiat brand is on 168,038 sales so far this year,
down 20.56 percent and forty three thousand units on the
first half of 2011 while its market share is similar, at
20.64 percent. Lancia is down 10.63 percent to 43,114
units for the first half of the year with its market
share up to 5.30 percent while Alfa Romeo is on 25,519
units which is down 31.32 percent and nearly twelve
thousand units on the first six months of 2011 meaning
its market share for the year-to-date contracts to 3.13
						percent.

The niche brands are mixed after six months of sales,
Jeep is flat (+1.30 percent) on last year with 3,826
sales while Ferrari is down 56.40 percent to 177 units
and Maserati has lost three quarters of sales (-76.06
percent) to register just 62 sales for the year-to-date.

The Fiat Panda was comfortably Italy's best selling car
last month with 10,930 sales compared to the Fiat Punto
which notched up 7,974 units. The Fiat 500, with 4,432
sales, made it a top three lockout for the Fiat brand
while next up, Lancia's Ypsilon (4,253) made it a top
four sweep for Fiat Group Automobiles (FGA). Alfa
Romeo's Giulietta (2,777) edged its way into eighth
place meaning half the June top ten best sellers were
from FGA. The Punto was also the market's best selling
diesel car in June with 2,939 versions being specified
as oil burners. For the year-to-date the Panda (65,317)
is Italy's best seller ahead of the Punto (48,648),
Ypsilon (27,521) and 500 (25,102). The Giulietta also
makes the first half top ten in ninth with 17,823 sales.

Amongst the segments the Panda and 500 were the top
sellers in A-segment during June, the former was up five
hundred units year-on-year thanks to the new model while
the latter lost three thousand sales compared to the
same month last year. The convertible 500C accounted for
476 of the model's total sales. For the year-to-date the
Panda sees its sales holding steady, down just a couple
of hundred units, while the 500 has dropped over twelve
						thousand sales.

In B-segment the Punto was the clear leader as usual.
But it lost a third of its sales, down four thousand
units, year-on-year. For the first half of the year the
Punto is also struggling despite a spring freshening up,
down almost twenty three thousand units on the same
period last year. Alfa Romeo's MiTo has long since
fallen away from the B-segment top ten and it managed
only 962 sales last month which represented less than
half the sales it notched up during the same month last
year. The story is the same for the MiTo for the first
half of the year as sales have nearly halved to 6,890
						units.

In C-segment the Giulietta had an excellent month to top
the class, almost matching last June's performance and
ending up more than four hundred units ahead of the VW
Golf. For the year-to-date the Giulietta is second in
C-segment, two and a half thousand units behind the Golf
while placing four thousand adrift of its performance
during January to June last year.

The Fiat Freemont had a very solid June to top D-segment
with 1,431 sales, well ahead of the 621 units it managed
during the same month a year ago and more than three
hundred units ahead of the VW Tiguan. For the
year-to-date the Freemont is on 8,237 sales, just under
a thousand adrift of the Tiguan.

In E-segment the Jeep Grand Cherokee added 125 units, a
sharp decline over the 235 units that it managed during
June 2011. However for the year-to-date the Grand
Cherokee is on 963 units, more than double that of the
same period last year. The Lancia Thema as usual didn't
trouble the E-segment top ten. Meanwhile, the only
Italian car to make the F-segment top ten in June was
the Ferrari 458 Italia in ninth which added a further 10
sales; it is also the only Italian survivor in the first
half of the year top ten, in sixth with 108 sales, 90
units less than it managed during the same period last
						year.

Elsewhere, the Lancia Musa added 1,133 sales for the
month, placing it narrowly behind the Opel Meriva in the
class for compact MPVs while the Fiat Idea continues to
trickle out sales, adding a further 253 in June. For the
year-to-date the Musa tops the category for mini MPV
sales with 7,924 units while the Idea has 2,372. In the
class for large MPVs Lancia's rebadged Chrysler Voyager
was third with 241 sales while for the first half of the
year it has added up 847 sales.

In Fuoristrada the Fiat Sedici saw its sales drop
by over two thirds to 441 units. Amongst convertibles
the new Lancia Flavia weighed in on its first month on
sales with 133 units although these are the initial
dealer demonstrators for its Italian launch.

Finally, Fiat ruled the roost as ever in Multispace,
the Qubo added 1,053 sales in June which was flat
year-on-year while the Doblò didn't fare as well, its
sales tanked by more than two thirds to 321 units
although it continued to comfortably hold onto second
spot. For the year-to-date the Qubo is the clear
Multispace leader with 6,273 sales, just a few
hundred units shy of the same period last year while the
Doblò continues to have a difficult 2012, its sales have
						halved to 2,068 units.
