The Fiat
brand saw its sales climb 10.91 percent and outperform
the flat UK new car market during August although Alfa
Romeo's year long slump continues and it was down 29.94
						percent.

In total 59,433 new cars were sold in the traditionally
quiet August month in the UK ahead of the registration
change, that was 0.15 percent ahead of the same month
						last year.

The Fiat brand sold 1,555 cars which was up 10.91
percent on the 1,402 it shifted during August 2011. As a
result its market share for the eighth month of the year
edged up from 2.36 percent last year to 2.62 percent in
						2012.

Alfa Romeo continued its downward path in the UK, it saw
sales of 234 cars last month and compared to 334 in the
same month a year ago; that was a fall of 29.94 percent.
Its share of all August sales correspondingly slid from
0.56 percent in August 2011 to 0.39 percent last month.

Most of the Fiat Group's niche brands had a solid month
albeit off nominal volumes, Chrysler was up 39.74
percent to 109 units, Jeep was up 27.50 percent to 51
units and Maserati was flat on 13 cars. However Abarth
lost two thirds of its volumes as it fell to 15 units.

After the first eight months of the year the UK has seen
1,260,997 new car sales, forty thousand units and 3.31
percent ahead of the same period last year.

The Fiat brand has 30,752 registrations for the
year-to-date and when compared to 27,167 during the same
eight month period last year that's a rise of 13.20
percent. It also means that Fiat's year-to-date share of
all sales edges up from 2.23 percent last year to 2.44
						percent this year.

Alfa Romeo has undone all its gains of 2011 during this
year, it has 4,888 registrations for the year-to-date
and when compared to 7,516 during the same period last
year that's a fall of 34.97 percent. That leaves it
amongst the worst performers after Proton, Renault,
Saab, Lotus and Mitsubishi. Correspondingly its
year-to-date market share drops from 0.62 percent last
year to 0.39 percent this year.

The token brands have had a mixed year so far. Abarth is
on 691 units down 15.53 percent from the 818 cars it
sold during the same period last year and its market
share for the year so far slips to 0.05 percent.
Maserati has also struggled, its down 26.30 percent and
71 units to 199 sales for the year-to-date. The U.S.
brands fare better, Chrysler is up 381.31 percent to
2,137 units while Jeep is up 10.76 percent to 1,359
						units.
