					Fiat
Group suffered another month of steeply falling sales in
Italy in September; the carmaker lost a quarter of all
its sales as all brands made double digit declines,
which mirrored the overall market as Fiat Group
						contracted to 33,055 units.

In total 109,178 new cars were sold in Italy last month,
down 25.74 percent year-on-year, according to automotive
trade body UNRAE. Fiat Group dropped ten and a
half thousand units and 24.26 percent. The carmaker
however fractionally outperformed the overall market and
its September share of all Italian sales edged from
29.69 percent last year to 30.28 percent in 2012.

Splitting the Fiat Group Automobiles (FGA) brands up,
Fiat lost more than seven thousand sales and 22.92
percent to 23,993 units in September, but as the softest
faller from FGA, its market share edged up to 21.98
percent. Lancia sold 5,449 cars to match the market,
dropping 25.61 percent year-on-year and keeping its
share relatively unchanged on 4.99 percent. Alfa Romeo
edged out the overall market as it slid 23.57 percent
after shifting 3,190 units, its share coming it at 2.92
percent while Jeep was FGA's worst performer in
year-on-year terms dropping 58.68 percent to 400 units.
The Fiat Group's two luxury/performance divisions both
lost more than half their sales in September, Ferrari
slumped 51.72 percent to 14 units while Maserati was
down 55.00 percent to 9 cars.

For the year-to-date 1,090,627 new cars have been sold
in Italy, down 20.46 percent on the same period last
year. The Fiat Group matches that sharp drop, it is down
20.62 percent to 323,951 units. Compared to 408,089
units sold during the same period last year that added
up to shedding eighty five thousand units so far this
year. The Fiat Group has a 29.70 percent market share
for the first nine months of the year.

The Fiat brand has sold 228,420 units for the
						year-to-date, down 20.21 percent to take a 20.94 percent
share of the market. Lancia is on 56,589 units, down
15.26 percent, to grab a 5.19 percent share while Alfa
Romeo is on 33,619 units, down 30.27 percent for a 3.08
percent share. The nominal brands are also in the red
ink, Jeep is down 15.76 percent to 5,014 units (to claim
a 0.46 percent market share), Ferrari drops 57.56
percent to 219 units while Maserati plunges 74.06
percent and has only managed to shift 90 cars on its
domestic market so far this year.

Amongst the segments Fiat's Panda, Italy's best selling
car in September, and 500 topped A-segment with 9,214
and 3,544 sales respectively, the former shedding one
thousand two hundred sales compared to the same month
last year while the latter dropped just over five
hundred units. For the year-to-date the Panda is on
88,684 units, mirroring last year, while the 500 is on
34,306 having lost nearly a third of its volumes. The
Panda is also Italy's top seller so far this year. Of
the 500s sales, the convertible 500C accounted for 160
units and it is on 2,835 for the year-to-date.

In B-segment the Fiat Punto is the top seller but its
sales are dramatically shrinking away and 6,999 units
represented a loss of three thousand units while for the
year-to-date the supermini is on 64,839 sales, having
lost nearly a third of its sales. Second in B-segment
was the Lancia Ypsilon but like the new Panda it isn't
proving a hit with consumers and 3,356 units represented
a fall of more than two thousand units year-on-year. For
the year-to-date the Ypsilon is on 35,907 units, a fall
of five thousand units on the same period last year. The
Alfa Romeo MiTo continues to fade away and it was
another FGA model to see sales slump by nearly a half
						last month.

In C-segment the Alfa Romeo Giulietta was the second
best seller with 2,420 units, roughly flat on September
2011 while for the year-to-date it is on 23,767 units,
down just under five thousand units compared to the same
period last yea. The Fiat Bravo was sixth in C-segment
with 1,143 sales, a few hundred units down on the same
month last year while for the year-to-date it is the
ninth best seller in the class with 9,546 sales a fall
of seven thousand when compared to January to September
						2011.

In D-segment the Fiat Freemont (Dodge Journey) added 909
sales for third in class, than represented a more than
halving of its sales year-on-year; for the year-to-date
the minivan is on 11,486 sales.

In E-segment the Jeep Grand Cherokee saw its sales
tumble to 128 units (290 units in September 2001) but
for the year-to-date it is up nearly three hundred units
compared to last year to 1,316 units during the same
period last year. In F-segment the Ferrari 458 Italia
sold 6 units in September and the Maserati GranTurismo
						one less.

The Lancia Voyager (Chrysler Town & Country) added 65
units in September, it is now on 1,089 since launch. One
of the few bright spots was the Lancia Musa, it added
1,155 units last month to top the class for small MPVs,
up more than 400 units on the same month last year while
the new Fiat 500L weighed in to take second place with
938 registrations. The Musa also tops the category for
the year-to-date, it is now on 10,743 units, down two
thousand on the same period last year.

In 'Multispace' the Fiat Qubo was the class leader with
779 units ahead of the Doblò on 250 units. For the
year-to-date the former has 8,698 sales while the latter
has 2,861, which leaves them as the runaway category
						leaders.

Elsewhere Lamborghini sold 3 cars in Italy last month,
down 62.50 percent, and is on 51 for the year-to-date, a
fall of one-fifth, while DR Motor which assembles
selected models in Italy from China's Chery Automobile
from CKD kits added 45 cars last month, a drop of 77.39
percent. DR Motor now has 581 sales for the
year-to-date, down 77.21 percent on the same period last
						year.
