Maserati
is giving the GranTurismo coupé a refresh with a new
version, the GranTurismo Sport, set to debut at the
Geneva Motor Show with interior and exterior changes
coming alongside a power increase under the bonnet.
The GranTurismo Sport
will replace the current GranTurismo S which has been
the mainstay of the coupé's range in the showrooms for
the last three years. The entry-level GranTurismo
version will remain in the range.
On the exterior the
main change brought by the GranTurismo Sport is a new
front bumper/spoiler section which is modelled on the
track-inspired GranTurismo MC Stradale which debuted in
late 2010 before going on sale in Q1 last year. The MC
Stradale's curved side air intakes are carried over,
while there are some minor detailing differences to the
ends of the flat lip spoiler section below the large
radiator grille. Maserati also says that that the
internals of the headlights have also been upgraded and
now incorporate DRL LED technology. At the rear the
GranTurismo Sport adopts the MC Stradale's tail light
units which feature a revised inner lens section pattern
which is also smoked.
Inside there are also improvements to the comfort of the
cabin, Maserati says that there is a redesign for the
front and rear seats as well as a new steering wheel
which comes with "a more sporty and muscular look".
Finally, under the
bonnet the GranTurismo Sport's 4.7-litre V8 engine will
get a power upgrade to 460 hp compared to the
GranTurismo S (and MC Stradale version) which had 450
hp. No performance data has been released yet but it
should be a step on the GranTurismo 295 km/h top
speed and 0-100 acceleration time of 4.9 seconds.
