Italian firm
Mazzanti has presented a first look and technical
details of a second version of its modern-style sports car,
the Evantra, which is now to be fitted with a 701 hp 7.0
litre engine and dubbed the Evantra V8.
F&M claims that a carbon fibre
composite body will be fitted to the Evantra V8 which is characterised
						by a new rear wing
and a series of inserts that are realised in carbon fibre
						or brushed aluminium.
						F&M first presented the Evantra
						proposal a year ago with a claimed 3.5-litre, flat-12
engine to be fitted; however it is unclear whether it
has built any examples yet. On its website F&M also
claims that the Evantra will debut at the Top Marques
Monaco event next April and that it also has a Chinese
						distributer.
						Inside the Evantra V8, a new chrome-molibden
rollcage is positioned under the roof while another cage
connects the new engine to the rear suspension
hard-points, F&M claiming that this arrangement will
enhance the structural stiffness of the chassis and at the same time help
						protect the occupants.
The Evantra V8 is powered, F&M
says, by an aluminium, naturally aspirated 7.0-litre V8
engine which it claims is capable of developing 701 hp
						at 6600 rpm and 848
Nm at 4500 rpm. The engine has a compression ratio of
11.0 and a dry sump lubrification system while the valves
and connecting rods are made from titanium.
						This implies that F&M has
sourced its power unit from the Corvette, always a very
popular route to take for wannabe niche sports car
makers. F&M offers no confirmation or any information as
to if it is also incorporating other parts of the
Corvette, such as chassis and suspension structures.
						The Evantra
V8, F&M states, is equipped with a 6-speed sequential gearbox
and that all adds up to a claimed top speed of over 350
km/h along with a claimed acceleration time of 0-100 in 3.2 seconds.
						The aerodynamic development
process of the new sports car was realised in partnership with Ysim, a
Parma, Italy based company, that F&M claims has F1 and Le
						Mans experience.
						Sila holding industrial, a
Turinese company that makes gearshift systems, has developed a special
version of its robotised gearshift system "silatronic"
						for Mazzanti.
The power of the Evantra V8
						will be
						transferred thanks to high
performance tyres from Continental, 255/30 R20 at the front and
305/25 R20 at the rear, mounted on 20" OZ alloy wheels.
The braking system comes from Brembo, formed by 380mm
discs with 6-pot calipers at the front and 360mm
discs with 4-pot calipers at the back. F&M says that a carbon-ceramic
						system is optional.
The interior is covered with all-natural leather prepared with
aniline leather treatment. The centre console is equipped
with a dash and data acquisition system from AIM and a
						Headunit (NAVI/CD/MP3) from Bosch.
The engine starter button is fitted to the roof panel, a
style that Mazzanti used on the Antas sports car. On the
lower part of the console there is a switch to select different mapping
programmes for the engine and gearbox,
						"Strada/Street" and "Corsa/Race".
						The Nardi
steering wheel incorporates a gearshift display while
changes are made via paddle shifters.
