Maserati is pumping up its GranTurismo MC "Trofeo" racer
in time for the 2012 season with a particular focus on
improved and distinctive aerodynamics including changes
to the front end and a large rear racing style wing.
The new 2012 car is seen
in three photos during a test at the Vallelunga circuit
near Rome, trialling the new modifications which should
enhance to its aero capability as well as improving its
visual appearance. As well as the changes to the front
nose, which focus on improving downforce, and the new
large rear wing (the 2011 Trofeo racer eschewed a
separate rear wing) there are also new covers for the
						wheel arches.
						Maserati has been
running a one-make "Trofeo" series on and off since 2004
on major tracks in Europe; the cars are prepared in
house to an arrive-and-drive format. The current series
is based on identical versions of the GranTurismo coupé
which also inspired its range-topped GranTurismo MC
Stradale sports car. This winter the GranTurismo MC
Trofeo cars were used for a second series, for the first
						time, in the Middle East.
