Fiat
Group Automobiles South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. finished 2012
with sales in December of 392 units across the Fiat,
Alfa Romeo, Abarth and Fiat Professional model ranges.
December sales closed off the 2012 year for the Italian
brands with a total of 4,921 units sold for the year,
compared to 4,202 for 2011. The 17 percent increase in
sales, claims FGA South Africa, has come as a result of
changes to the retail network as well as consolidation
within the Chrysler and Fiat Group business operations
locally.
The Fiat Group’s December sales highlights for the South
African market include the Fiat Punto with 58 percent
sales increase versus November, Fiat Doblò Cargo Van
with 111 percent and Alfa Romeo 159 sales from final
stocks remaining strong at 63 percent increase versus
November although FGA South Africa doesn't break down
the actually volumes.
This year will see the launch of several new Fiat Group
vehicles in South Africa starting with the Fiat Qubo
next month, the new third-generation Fiat Panda in April
as well as enhancements to the existing Alfa Romeo range
during the course of the year. FGA South Africa also
hopes to launch the production Alfa Romeo 4C sports car
towards the end of the year.
