					Fiat
Group Automobiles had a mixed final month of the year in
the UK as the Fiat brand saw sales up by a half while
Alfa Romeo sales were down by a half against the
backdrop of the overall market which was very slightly
						up.

In total 123,557 new cars were sold in the UK during
December, up 3.67 percent on the same month of the
previous year according to automotive trade body SMMT.

The Fiat brand shifted 3,260 cars in the UK last month,
and when that is compared to 2,203 sold during December
2011 it represents a hike of 47.98 percent and put Fiat
amongst the market's best performers for the month.
However, in context, the Fiat brand only retains niche
status in the UK now, and that raised its market share
for December from 1.85 percent in 2011 to 2.64 percent
						in 2012.

The year ended as it started for Alfa Romeo - on a bad
note - as it slumped 52.30 percent to just 290 sales.
Compared to 608 units in December 2011 that added up to
a year-on-year decline of 52.30 percent. That shrank
Alfa Romeo's market share from 0.51 percent in December
						2011 to 0.23 percent in December 2012.

Of the niche FGA brands, Abarth had a robust end to the
year, it was up 53.85 percent in December to 120 units
to take a 0.10 percent market share (78 units and 0.07
percent in December 2011) while Maserati fell 22.22
percent to 18 units. The two American brands were mixed
during December: Chrysler was up 23.85 percent to 135
units while Jeep lost 43.66 percent to 120 units.

For the full year of 2012, a total of 2,044,609 cars
were sold in the UK according to SMMT. The Fiat
brand led the way for FGA with 49,907 units registered.
When compared to 41,612 units in 2011, that added up to
a rise of 19.93 percent. The Fiat brand's market share
thus rose from 2.14 percent in 2011 to 2.44 percent in
						2012.

In 2012 Alfa Romeo saw total UK sales of 7,253 units and
when put up against the the 11,563 it saw registered
during the previous year, that added up to a slump of
37.27 percent. Alfa Romeo's full year market share
dipped from 0.60 percent in 2011 to 0.35 percent for the
						year just finished.

Amongst the Fiat Group brands with token representation
in the UK, Abarth sold 1,292 cars in the UK last year
and that was 1 unit more than the previous year to leave
						the Scorpion flat year-on-year. Luxury/performance
division Maserati sold 309 cars during 2012, a fall of
						20.36 percent.

Finally the Chrysler brand sold 3,333 cars last year, up
181.98 percent, which actually made it the second
biggest winner in the UK during 2012 in year-on-year
terms, while Jeep sold 2,306 vehicles, which was also
						up, by 7.46 percent year-on-year.
