Fiat Brazil is expanding the range of its small pickup, the Toro, by adding a premium lifestyle focused version, the ‘Blackjack’, that’s been given a distinctive ‘all black’ look both outside and inside through darkened detailing and comes equipped with the 2.4 litre Tigershark engine.
The Toro has been a long-time leader of the pickup sector in Brazil and this new range topping version will embellish its credentials in the growing SUP (Sport Utility Pickup) segment where margins are the highest.
The Blackjack trim was first presented by Fiat Brazil as a showcar a year ago but has now finally made it into the showrooms.
To differentiate the Blackjack series, the Toro’s chrome finished trims have all been blackened out. The pickup’s exterior sees the 17-inch alloy wheels now finished in a dark hue, as well as the door mirrors, front grille trims and the roof bars. To complete the ‘all black’ theme, there’s a black stripe across the bonnet and the tailgate while all the badges have been darkened – even the traditional red background of the Fiat brand logo has been changed to black by Fiat Brazil for the first time since they introduced the new logo.
The body comes with two options of black paint finish: ‘Shadow’ (solid) and ‘Carbon’ (metallic).
Inside there are new seats that comprise a mix of black and leather that feature the ‘Blackjack’ logo embroidered into the front backrests. This version’s exclusive name is also engraved into the top of the bezel that encases the multimedia console on the dashboard. That bezel is finished in a light grey hue and that theme is repeated for the frames that surround the air vents and the audio speakers to create a contrast with the black finish that prevails throughout the cabin.
The Toro Blackjack is equipped with Fiat Brazil’s 2.4 Tigershark MultiAir Flex engine with 186 hp and 24.9 kgfm, which is combined with the segment-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission.
The equipment list is based on the Toro Freedom 2.4 trim level along with some additional options that come as standard, namely dual zone electronic air-conditioning, exclusive seats, fog lights, LED daytime running lights (DRL), longitudinal roof bars, rear armrests, carpet mats and the ‘High Tech’ package, comprising of rain sensor, twilight sensor and internal electrochromic rear-view mirror.
Another feature of the new Fiat Toro Blackjack series is a Mopar multimedia centre which comes with a 6.2-inch touch screen and includes radio, DVD player, digital TV, GPS navigator, USB and Bluetooth connections, rear camera and interaction with the steering wheel controls.
The Toro Blackjack series has a recommended starting price of R$112.990.
