Just as Fiat celebrates 42 years since its arrival in Brazil, the brand has renewed its partnership with Inhotim, one of the largest centres of contemporary art set in an open botanical garden in the world.
The agreement sees that Fiat models will continue to be used as the official cars of Inhotim Institute with a newly renewed fleet of twelve vehicles comprising of the Argo, Cronos, Toro, Doblò and Strada models.
The vehicle handover took place at the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) factory in Betim, in the presence of the president of FCA Latin America, Antonio Filosa, and the executive director of the Inhotim Institute, Antonio Grassi.
"It is a proud for Fiat to be the official car of Inhotim, a unique space in the world that connects people, art and the environment," says Filosa.
The FCA executive recalled the very similar journeys the two companies have made in the past as Fiat and Inhotim chose Minas Gerias as the loaction for major projects that both broke away from accepted convention at the time of their realisation.
"In the 1970s, we were the first automaker to settle out of the São Paulo belt and here we built the second largest automotive hub in Latin America.
"Inhotim made the same move in the 2000s," he continued. "Betting on the creation of a museum outside an urban centre, with a significant collection of contemporary art [that’s] internationally recognised, "he said.
Grassi, in turn, highlighted the importance of the on going partnership with the Fiat brand for the sustainability of the large scale Inhotim project of contemporary art in a botanical garden setting.
“[Fiat has] always been a great partner of Inhotim, contributing to the growth and recognition of the institution as a reference museum in Brazil and worldwide and we are moving towards an even more promising future," said the CEO.
