12.11.2003 THE FERRARI 612 SCAGLIETTI BREAKS COVER AGAIN AS COUNTDOWN TO DETROIT LAUNCH BEGINS

The new Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is seen again in the flesh. Due to be officially presented at the Detroit Motor Show in January, the new 2+2 was shown to valued customers and dealers at two events earlier this month, held in Ferrari's new conference facility at the Maranello factory. Two models in new colours, Mirabeau Blue and Ingrid Silver, were available for detailed examination and it is believed that next year's production run has already been pre-sold.

Named after one of Ferrari's famous craftsmen, the 612 is powered by a 5.748 cc V12 engine, producing 540bhp at 7,250rpm. Despite weighing in at a considerable 1.840kg, the 2+2 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and reaches a top speed in excess of 315 km/h. This makes it the world’s fastest production 2+2 and is set to clearly become another automotive benchmark.
