14.12.2003 LAMBORGHINI MURCIELAGO 40TH ANNIVERSARY RECEIVES FIRST MAJOR PUBLIC SHOWING IN BOLOGNA

Lamborghini have presented two models in Bologna on a compact stand. Making its first major public appearance, the special edition Mucielago, built to commemorate Lamborghini's 40 years of producing sportscars is joined by the mid-size Gallardo which was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March and is now coming off the production lines.

After the Countach 25^th anniversary edition launched in 1988 and the Diablo SE launched in 1993, Lamborghini have introduced the Murciélago 40^th Anniversary Edition. A limited amount of 50 numbered cars are currently being built at the Sant d'Agata factory, going predominantly to buyers Europe, the United States and Japan.

It is only available in the exclusive Verde Artemis (jade green) colour, with a three layer pearl effect paint modifications. The upper door moulds as well as the ‘voletto’ or pillar surrounding the rear window where the petrol flap is located, features an optic carbon fibre coating.

The grey anthracite coloured wheel rims make the car look more aggressive. The car is also equipped with a newly designed exhaust system and silver grey callipers. The wheel center logo, also newly designed, accurately reproduces Lamborghini’s trademark. The car on show in Bologna has the moving air intakes behind the rear side windows opened up to create the appearance gained when these automatically open when at speed.

The Murcielago is joined by a metallic grey Gallardo, the new Ferrari 360 Modena rivalling mid-size sportscar which on its introduction earlier this year offered Lamborghini a two model line up for the first time in many years. The two road cars are joined by the Lamborghini engine which has recently claimed the title in the Offshore Powerboat World Championship.
