Alfa
Romeo unveiled its long awaited stunning sportscar concept here in Frankfurt
today. The stylish car, titled the '8C Competizione' uses Maserati's 4.2-litre
V8 and drivetrain, with Alfa Romeo planning, if feedback is positive, to
roll out a run of 1,000 of these 300km/h sportscars.
The
8c Competizione concept has the Ferrari-developed 4.2-litre V8 Maserati
with a volumetric kompressor offering 420cv. However the production model
will have Alfa Romeo's all-new 4.3 V8 JTS with 480cv. Price will be around
€100,000 with a 1000 unit run being target at year. The name 8c Competizione
may change before the first production models arrrive next autumn, with
TZ3, RZ, Targa Florio or Nuvola being the alternatives under consideration.
Initial
reaction was highly positive as the covers came off, the 8C Competizione
immediately being destined to become one of the show stoppers of Frankfurt
2003.
