24.06.2003 ALFA ROMEO'S PORSCHE 911-RIVALLING 3.6-LITRE V6 TWINTURBO TZ3 SPORTSCAR TO HIT 300KM/H
The TZ3, previously known
as the 'Sportiva Evoluta', will appear in concept form at the Frankfurt
Motor Show in September, a year after it was originally pulled at the last
minute from appearing at the 2002 Paris Motor Show. The final version of
this 300km/h sportscar will go on sale in October 2004 priced at €120,000.
Most likely to be built by Zagato, the TZ3 will have a version of the new GM/Powertrain 'Electron' HFV6, developed to a 24v 3.6-litre V6 Twinturbo JTS Uniair with 480cv and 600Nm, while the TZ3 and be built in a quantity of only 1000 units. The front mounted engine will feed power through the rear wheels by way of a transaxle taken from the Maserati Coupe and Spyder. Meanwhile Alfa Romeo business head Daniel Bandiera has given the go-ahead to a higher specification Ferrari V12 engine as a follow up in 2006. This version, at the suggestion of Ferrari, wiil be called the "Alfa Romeo TZ3 GTA Scuderia Ferrari" and will have the Enzo's a 6.0 V12 Ferrari with JTS and Uniair with around 630cv and 750Nm. In 2007, the TZ4 will use
the new 5.0-litre V10 JTS Uniair with 600cv and 650Nm that Ferrari is currently
developing specially for Alfa Romeo.
