29.10.2003 LAMBORGHINI POWERED SPIRIT OF NORWAY AWARDED CLASS 1 WORLD POWERBOAT TITLE IN DUBAI |
Following the victory in Doha on the occasion of Qatar Grand Prix, Spirit of Norway – powered by Lamborghini – has mathematically been awarded the Superfund Class 1 World Powerboat Championship 2003 title with two rounds of the championship remaining. The white and red boat – official Lamborghini team – piloted by the Anglo-Norwegian duo Steve Curtis and Bjørn Rune Gjelsten had already secured the European Championship title last 18 August on Scandinavian waters. The acquisition of the 2003 World Championship has been completed by Highlander’s second place ( piloted by Edoardo Polli and Lamberto Leoni), and Maritimo’s (Australia) third place – official Lamborghini team – both equipped – like Spirit of Norway – by the powerful and reliable 12 cylinder 8.200 cc engine of the House of the Bull. Yet another success for Spirit of Norway this year that amasses to those secured in the year 2002 (World and European Champion) and in the year 2001 (Time Trial Champion) besides the World Champion title in 1998. |
