14.01.2003  FERRARI F2003-GA BREAKS FIORANO LAP RECORD THREE TIMES IN SHAKEDOWN RUNS

After three days of testing at Fiorano, Ferrari's private test track, F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher has lowered the track record three times in the brand new Ferrari F2003-GA.

Last Thursday, at the wheel of the F2003-GA, Michael Schumacher set a fastest time of 57.045 during a 78 lap shakedown run, 0.431 faster than the previous record established in the F2002 on the 12th July last year. However part of this pace can be put down to the recent resurfacing of the test track which has greatly improved the smoothness of the surface.

“Gianni Agnelli would have been happy with this car and this team,” said Michael Schumacher at the end of the opening day. “Today, we achieved a very good result with great reliability. I am very happy with this first day of testing.”

Friday and Saturday saw the test program continue with the German shaving further time off the Fiorano lap record.
