09.11.2003 CIRTEK MOTORSPORT SNATCH LM GT VICTORY FOR FERRARI IN TENSE FINALE AT LE MANS

The most hotly contested category in the Le Mans 1000 kms was the LM GT one as the final result which offered three automatic entries into next year's event was in doubt up to the very end. The PK Sport Porsche GT3-RS was leading with 15 minutes to go when Jean-Pierre Belloc, at the wheel, was the victim of a puncture.

He pitted to change the wheel and managed to finish 3rd. The battle for victory then turned into a duel between the Cirtek Motorsport Ferrari 360 Modena and the Freisinger Motorsport Porsche GT3-RS, with the Italian car emerging victorious by only 14 seconds after 6 hours of racing.

The race had got off to a hectic start on a very damp track. In the early stages Porsche dominated the LM GT category, led by the 39 Freisinger Motorsport GT3-RS driven by Stephane Ortelli, followed by the 38 car entered by PK Sport and the 33 Porsche from the Bernard Jubin Team.

At half distance the gaps were minimal and the first three were covered by only thirty seconds with the 38 PK Sport Porsche leading the Cirtek Motorsport Ferrari 360 Modena and the Freisinger Motorsport GT3-RS 39 now back in the hands of Stephane Ortelli after Stéphane Daoudi's 1 hour stint.
