05.04.2003  FIA GT CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1: LISTER STORM EDGES OUT SCUDERIA ITALIA FERRARIS IN FIRST QUALIFYING SESSION

The first qualifying session of the 2003 season has just finished at the Catalunya Circuit in Barcelona, Spain.  Jamie Campbell-Walter, with the nr 14 Lister Storm, took provisional pole wiht a lap of 1:40.975, set early in the session.  In the N-GT class, the nr 89 Team Maranello Concessionaires Ferrari 360 Modena set the best time, with a lap of 1:45.267. 

The session was very close, with five cars within a second, and four makes in the top six.  The nr 14 Lister was chased by the nr 22 and 23 BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello cars, with the second Lister Storm of Deletraz and Piccini fourth, and the nr 7 Saleen S7-R fifth.  Bouchut, in the nr 1 Larbre Competition Chrysler Viper GTS-R.

In N-GT, the session saw a close fight between the nr 50 Freisinger Motorsport Porsche 996 GT3-R and the two Team Maranello Concessionaires Ferrari 360 Modena cars.  The fastest time was set by the nr 89 Ferrari Modena, followed by the nr 50 car of Lieb and Maassen, with the nr 88 TMC car third.
