12.06.2003 80TH LE MANS 24 HOURS: THE TWO RISI COMPETIZIONE FERRARI 360 MODENAS QUALIFY SAFELY FOR RACE
The two Risi Competizione
Ferrari 360 Modenas qualified safely on Wednesday evening for the 80th
anniversary edition of the 24-Heures du Mans. Ralf Kelleners recorded the
fastest lap ever for a Ferrari 360 as dusk was settling on the 13.6 kilometre
track, at 4:12.016, which was fifth quickest in the Le Mans Grand Touring
category.
"We are fine tuning the set-up that we reached during the test day last month" said Ralf Kelleners. "This is a race set-up, ride heights, suspension and all, which makes us feel very confident for the race." The Calpont-sponsored Risi Competizione Ferrari, which races on Michelin tyres, is crewed by three highly experienced drivers, Americans Terry Borcheller and Anthony Lazzaro joining Kelleners. Jeff Giangrande's ACEMCO Automotive-sponsored Ferrari 360 Modena is entered under the Risi Competizione banner, and this Yokohama equipped car returned the eighth fastest time in the 15-car class. Johnny Mowlem set the time of 4:18.269, and the Englishman is joined in the driver team by Americans Butch Leitzinger and Shane Lewis. The Ferrari crew elected not to run qualifying tyres until the ideal set-up had been found, and fully expect a qualifying run during Thursday's pair of two-hour sessions. |
