30.08.2003  TEAM MARANELLO CONCESSIONAIRES TEST AT ADRIA AHEAD OF FIA GT SERIES VISIT NEXT WEEKEND

After completing a comprehensive test during round nine of the BRDC British GT Championship at Thruxton on Sunday 17 August, Brackley-based Team Maranello Concessionaires traveled to Italy to continue its development work ahead of returning to the FIA GT Championship in Anderstorp, Sweden, on 7 September.

The team chose to take one of its two Ferrari 360N/GT race cars to the Adria Raceway to work alongside the car’s developer, Michelotto, based just north of the circuit in Padova.  Several new developments were tested successfully today in an effort to improve driveability. These enhancements will now be employed on both of TMC’s race cars in Sweden in less than two weeks time. TMC’s Kelvin Burt was on hand to drive the car and completed 35 laps of the 2.7Km-long circuit.

Kelvin Burt : “It’s great to be back behind the wheel again. Spa seems a distant memory although it was only four weeks ago. In the meantime, the team has continued with its development work and it shows. The car feels better than ever!”

“Thruxton was a good opportunity to continue our development work and our pace throughout the weekend in Hampshire was a good indication of our forthcoming pace,” continued Rod Benoist, TMC’s Team Manager. “However, we have continued to work on a number of new initiatives with Michelotto in Padova and, whilst our engineers were confident of progress on paper, we wanted to put this new-found knowledge into practice ahead of round seven in Sweden. I am pleased to report that our engineers’ theories have proven correct today. The car’s pace is better than ever and so we can leave for Anderstorp next week confident of producing the results we need in our fight for the Championship.”
