23.09.2003 JMB RACING REFLECT ON AN N-GT WIN IN GERMANY AS THEY PREPARE TO INDRODUCE THE NEW FERRARI 575GTC |
|
Oschersleben saw a podium composed 100% Ferrari Modenas in the N-GT class, led home by the 52 JMB Racing car driven by Bertolini and De Simone after having done a full sweep of the whole weekend: pole position, fastest lap times in the warm-up and during the race and final victory. This second success of the season allows Fabrizio DeSimone to reduce his gap in the Driver Championship by 6 points from the leaders, fifth in Germany. While the 52 Modena of JMB Racing had a successful weekend, the team's other cars were less successful. The second N-GT Modena of Peter Kutemann and Antoine Gosse had to abandon mid-race following a fire in the motor compartment. No more of success was elicited by the GT cars, the Ferrari 550 Maranello of Fabio Babini and Philipp Peter failed to make the start after promising much in qualifying due to a blown engine during the warm-up. Disappointment was also manifested for Boris Derichebourg and Christian Pescatori, who were fighting again for a podium to finish when they were slowed by left-front suspension failure, which entailed pit repair work before the car finished in a distant seventh place. JMB Racing will now be the first team in the world to have two of the new Ferrari 575GTC cars, taking delivery in time for the last two races of the GT FIA Championship season. They will make their first appearance in competition at Estoril on October 5th, the first of two opportunities during which the team will be able to acclimatise themselves to the cars and gauge its level of competitiveness. The second race this year will be the season closer at Monza. These two races will give JMB Racing an opportunity to prepare themselves for the 2004 season. N-GT result from Oschersleben 1.
