26.09.2003  JMB RACING LOOKING TO CONTINUE THE TEAM'S IMPROVING FORM AT THEIR HOME RACE IN MIAMI

JMB Racing Ferrari 360 Modena during the last round of the ALMS series at Laguna SecaThe American Le Mans Series returns to the scene of one of the most successful street circuits in North America this weekend for the Grand Prix Americas presented by Sportsbook.com. Downtown Miami had been the site of widely popular Sportscar and Indy car races in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Following 1995, street racing had been absent from Miami up until last year, when the exoticism of the ALMS and the Champ Cars of CART returned to the streets of downtown in a unique dual headline event. Both the ALMS and CART have realized the importance of the South Florida market and in holding a race in such an exciting and vibrant city.

The event will be a home race for JMB Racing USA as the team headquarters are located just north of downtown in Miramar, FL.  Eliseo Salazar also calls Miami his home and will be looking to impress his hometown fans. “I raced here in Indy cars back in 1995,” remarked Salazar. “The atmosphere is incredible, and the people down here have a real passion for racing. That’s part of the reason I chose to make it my home, I just love this city!”

The 1.2-mile street circuit is a tight and twisty track, that promises an action packed race. Driver of the 28 Ferrari 360 Modena GT, Stephan Gregoire noted; “The track is very short and narrow. With four classes all going at different speeds, everyone has to look out for each other. On street circuits, where you are surrounded by walls, there is no margin for error!”

After a string of bad luck during mid-season, JMB Racing USA is forging ahead and looking forward to the last 2 rounds of the championship. After a strong outing at Laguna Seca, the team is back on track and seeking their first ALMS podium finish. Piloting the 28 JMB Ferrari this weekend will be drivers Eliseo Salazar, Stephan Gregoire, and Iradj Alexander. Dr. Stephen Earle and Mark Neuhaus will co-drive the 29 Ferrari 360 Modena GT.

Practice and qualifying for ‘The Blast By the Bay’ will be held today, with the timed 2 hour and 45 minute main event to be run on Saturday at 4:00 pm (EDT).
