01.10.2003 SCUDERIA FERRARI OF WASHINGTON TO RUN SECOND CAR AT VIRGINIA AS THEY PREPARE FOR EXPANDED PROGRAMME NEXT YEAR

The Scuderia Ferrari of Washington, 2002 GrandAm GT champion and current leader in the 2003 GT class, will run a second Ferrari 360 at the Virginia International Raceway 400 as an initial step toward a 2004 GrandAm SGS program.

"I think our record with the Ferrari 360 GT over the past two years proves our capabilities," said Team Manager Glenn Marquis, "and we're planning to expand our program for 2004.  We have the resources to run several cars, and GrandAm's decision to add the SGS to the Rolex series provides the perfect opportunity."

The team's second car at VIR will be a Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge, factory-built for Ferrari's long-running racing series. "We've made a few modifications to the basic Challenge specifications," explained Marquis, "notably a rear wing. We'll be continuing development of this car through the balance of the year, and intend to be ready for the start of the 2004 season. I've already been contacted by several drivers about next year, but our line-up is far from
finalized, and I 'm still looking for drivers who'd like to join the Scuderia. I think that the Ferrari 360 Challenge will be an extremely competitive car in SGS."

"We're delighted to see a team such as Scuderia Ferrari of Washington planning for the 2004 season," said Mark Raffauf, GrandAm Director of Competition. "We are evaluating this package for consideration for the 2004 Rolex SGS/GT  program and this provides us an opportunity to evaluate a variety of performance parameters in a racing situation."

Drivers for the new car at VIR will include Jeff Segal, Asher Hyman, and Jim Wilson. Segal, at 18, has experience in BMW racing as well podiums and a victory in the 2003 Ferrari Challenge series. Hyman has an extensive BMW racing background, and Wilson is an accomplished SCCA racer.

"This second car takes nothing away from our primary goal, which to ensure that our drivers Brent Martini and Cort Wagner take the 2003 GT Drivers Championship, and that we repeat as the GT Team Champion," said Marquis. "This is just our first step toward a 2004 GrandAm program."

The new SFoW 360 Modena Challenge will be sponsored by First Trust Portfolios, L.P. Putnam Leasing, Tube Style, and Algar Ferrari/Maserati, the authorized Ferrari and Maserati dealer for the greater Philadelphia area, join as associate sponsors for the car.
