18.04.2003  PEARLE CHALLENGE GEARS UP FOR SEASON WITH ALFA 147 GTA CUP RACERS

2003 Pearle Alfa 147 GTA Challenge
The Pearle Alfa 147 Challenge has stepped up to run 147GTA Cup cars for this season after one year using a 2.0-litre TwinSpark based 147 racer in 2002. The eight round series kicks off on Sunday ( 21st April ) at Zandvoort, while the programme this year includes a race at the prestigious Spa 24 Hours on the 26th July and a closing round at Monza on 19th October.

A full grid of 26 cars is expected in Zandvoort. Championship winning team Cable 1 Racing are back with last years title winner Sandor Van Es in an effort expanded to run six cars, including BMW European Touring Car racer Tom Coronel's younger brother, Tim. New outfit, the Radio 538-sponsored, Tempo Team Racing are running three cars this years led by title contender Rory Bertram.

Also back for another season are previous title holder Boy Zentveldt who leads the Automotive Systems team and experienced Dutchman Allard Kalff who took Sandor Van Es to the wire last year in the championship hunt.
