23.04.2003 PEARLE 147GTA CHALLENGE KICKS OFF AT ZANDVOORT

The Pearle Alfa 147 Challenge kicked off on Sunday with a full field of Alfa 147GTA Cup-specification race cars, replacing the 2.0-litre TwinSpark racers used last season. A fraught and closely fought race at the seaside track of Zandvoort in dry and sunny conditions saw experienced Pearle Challenge driver Phil Bastiaans take victory for the brand new Tempo Team as title rivals fell away.

Following him home were three cars from the Cable 1 Racing Team, Berend Gesman, Jan-Joris Verheul and Tim Coronel. Next up was previous champion Boy Zentveldt, crossing the line fifth, just ahead of last years series runner-up Allard Kallf and Cable 1's lead driver Rory Bertram.
