Alfa Romeo continued testing
today in Fiorano, in the presence of the company chairman Daniele Bandiera.
After he drove the Autodelta Alfa 156 GTA for a few laps in Mugello, today
Sebastian Stahl had the opportunity to complete a full day of testing with
the car. “It’s the first time I drove a real racing car, thus in the beginning
I had a few problems with the sequential gearbox and the power range,”
said Stahl who benefited of some advice from the current FIA ETCC leader
Gabriele Tarquini and from his own step brother, the Ferrari ace and five
times Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, who tested the Alfa
156 yesterday.
“This is a great opportunity
for Sebastian to improve his motorsport experience,” Schumacher commented.
Stahl was born in Bonn on 20th September 1978 and began his motorsport
career in karting at the age of 10. After he moved to car racing, he was
classified fourth in the 1996 German Formula König Championship and
second in the 2002 German Alfa 147 JTD Cup. This year, in the same series,
he claimed a second position in the third round, held on the legendary
Nürburgring Nordschleife.
“Sebastian’s progress in
the test were impressive,” Autodelta team manager Monica Sipsz commented.
“The reason for this test was evaluating the opportunity to include him
in the team for at least one of the remaining ETCC meetings.” |
