28.07.2003  DUTCH AND ITALIAN ALFA 147GTA RUNNERS MEET UP AT SPA FOR EUROPEAN CHALLENGE SHOWDOWN

Spa Francorchamps, 26 July 2003  – European Championship Alfa 147GTA Challenge

Honour was at stake as the competitors in the Dutch and Italian Alfa 147GTA Cup series' went head-to-head at Spa in a European showdown on Saturday. An exciting duel between the Dutch Cable 1 driver Tim Coronel, and the Italian Maurizio Campani caused for a sensation at Spa Francorchamps. With only three laps to go before the chequered flag, race leader Coronel nudged a tyre barrier damaging his front right suspension. As a result Coronel couldn’t defend his position, and finished second with Campani taking first place. Simone Lacone ended third. Rory Bertam was removed from the race results after failing to take note of a black flag. The black flag was issued for ignoring a stop-and-go penalty which he received for overtaking under a yellow flag.
