The first test session of
the new year kicked off at Barcelona with regular Ferrari test driver Luca
Badoer being joined by new signing Luciano Burti running in
a Ferrari F2001. Poor conditions interspaced with rain mean neither driver
running anything other than intermediate tyres and no competitive times
were recorded on the first day. Both then ran until Wednesday, then Burti
left to test at Fiorano while Badoer continued until Friday, posting an
eventual 3rd fastest time of 1:19.495. Ferrari will move to Valencia to
continue testing on the 19th with Rubens Barichello joining the program
with his new race engineer Gabrielli delli Colli.
