After skipping the wet first day, Minardi joined the session on the second day which produced dry conditions. Alex Yoong completed 39 laps, joined by the first of Minardi's hopefuls, Matteo Bobby, who ran 16 laps.

On day three, Yoong completed a further 58 laps and while Bobby gained a further taste of Minardi power, they were joined by Antonio Garcia, who ran 27 laps
 

Minardi's final two days saw Mark Weber and Christijan Albers get their turn to run, Weber eventually setting the fastest time of all the Minardi pilots.

Ferrari joined the test on day 6, Michael Schumacher, immediately stamping his authority with the days fastest time set during his 102 completed laps. Meanwhile Rubens Barichello lost control of his car at turn 11, hit the barriers and overturned the Ferrari, but was fortunately uninjured despite extensive damage to his car. Schumacher continued to dominate into day 7 while Barichello sat out the days session with bruising after his heavy shunt the previous day.
