Ferrari's F2002 F1 car was
unveiled a Maranello earlier today. A small and neat car, immediately distinctive
for its streamlined rear end, it looks a visual evolution of the F2001.
Major changes over the previous
F2001 are made in the areas of engine, transmission, aerodynamics and electronics.
Other areas have evolved. Much attention has been made to lowering the
centre of gravity and the weight distribution.
The novel new seven speed
hydraulic gearbox is cast completely in titanium. Along with weight saving
materials used in the engine, the area of engine and transmission make
significant strides in weight reduction and size. The new 051 engine is
a 90 degree V10, an evolution from last years 050 engine. It features heavily
revised cylinder heads and a new crankshaft.
Much attention surrounds
the issue of if the new car will be ready to be race ready to be shipped
to Australia or whether Ferrari will compete the first three races in last
years F2001, of this Ferrari were unable to make any confirmation. |
