Fiat Auto UK have announced that they will be supporting a three car junior team to contest the Wales Rally GB in September, the British round of the FIA World Rally Championship.

The team will comprise three exciting young drivers, all in identical Fiat Stilo Abarth Rally Cup specification cars.

The Fiat Auto UK entry will be headed by 22-year-old Welsh rising star, Leon Pesticcio, who will be swapping his usual Punto Abarth S1600 seat for a Stilo drive, and will be partnered, as usual, by the experienced Tim Sturla.

The pair have had a busy season so far this year, running in both British and Italian National Championship events, as well as selected rounds of the Junior World Rally Championship.

Joining them will be Andrea Perego and Claudio Vischioni, who are favourites to claim the 2004 Italian Trofeo Stilo Abarth series. They currently lead the series in their Movistar-run car with just two rounds now remaining, after having put in a careful performance to finish in second place on the 24th Rallye Internazionale San Martino di Castrozza e Primiero last weekend.

23-year-old Perego, who will be making both his UK and World Rally Championship debut in Wales, also leads the Under-27 classification in the Italian Stilo Cup.

Third team member of the team is the leading junior driver at the halfway point of the 2004 UK Fiat Stilo Rally Cup, Chris Davies.

The 19-year-old from Abergavenny, who joins Fiat Auto UK’s Rally GB team along with regular co-driver and fellow Welshman Nathan Parry, will be making his WRC debut. The youngest member of the team, Davies joins Pesticcio in representing Wales on their home soil.

Fiat Auto UK has indicated that it intends to continue its support of UK rally juniors into 2005 through the Fiat Stilo Rally Cup, and a number of possible incentives are currently under consideration.
