26.01.2004 A 612 SCAGLIETTI HAS BEEN PRESENTED AT THE GALLERIA FERRARI IN MARANELLO |

Earlier this month Ferrari took the wraps off their new 540bhp 6.0-litre V12 Coupe, the 612 Scaglietti, which has taken its name from one of the marques most important past designers. It was officially unveiled to the world at the Detroit Motor Show by Group President Luca di Montezemolo, the event marking the first time that a Ferrari model has ever received its international premiere in the US, reflecting the importance of North America, their number on market. It was also significant as 2004 represents fifty years since the first Ferrari was sold on this continent. To coincide with the Detroit World Premiere, a second 612 Scaglietti was unveiled at Ferrari's Maranello museum where it will be displayed until the end of June. The red-leathered 612, finished in silver, forms the centrepiece of a display that brings together all Ferrari's historical 2+2's, which are laid out in a sweeping semi-circle around the new car. From the very first, the 166 Inter of 1948, to the very last, the 456GT which the new 612 succeeds, the exhibition traces this particular strand of Ferrari history. |
