On the German
Nurburgring circuit yesterday, an event organised by Ferrari Deutschland in
collaboration with the Corse Clienti department at Maranello, saw Michael
Schumacher take centre stage.
The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro driver ran several exhibition laps in the F2003-GA
and a few more in a road Ferrari 575 with the GTC Handling Pack fitted.
Schumacher’s track appearance preceded the 2004 Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy
Europe races.
Championship leader and reigning champ, Frenchman Ange Barde, driving for the
Ferrari West Europe Organisation, claimed the first race. In the second,
Irishman Michael Cullen, in a Rossocorsa-run car, took the win, his first in the
series this year.
The two victories in the Shell Cup of the same one-make series went to the Swiss
driver Rolf Galliker, driving for Loris Kessel Racing, and his team mate, the
German Freddy Kremer.
A parade of twelve Ferrari F1 Clienti, some of which Schumacher himself has
previously driven competitively, completed the day’s programme of the 'Ferrari
Racing Days 2004' event.
