Only two months
after its first official meeting organised by the Alfa Klub,
the leadership of club decided to hold a first
"international" meeting, in Croatia.
The central place chosen for the meeting was agro-tourist
town of Klarići, close to Pula (in Croatian region of Istra).
At about 10am the first participants to arrive were from
Slovenian, the guests from the biggest Italian club to
attend - the 147VirtualClub - rolled in. The members of
Croatian Alfa Klub - mostly making their way individually -
were arriving periodically, before a larger group coming
down from North Croatia arrived at midday. Then followed the
registration of guests, which number 90 - with a third of
them having travelled from Italy and Slovenia.
Just after noon, over 50 Alfa Romeos - from different parts
of Croatia, Italy and Slovenia - set off toward the events
main destination, Pula. There were stops to take photographs
of cars, and due to heavy traffic and jams that day, as well
as the rainy weather conditions, some of the guests were
making their way straight to Pula. After photographing the
column of cars, a very fast run from Pula, saw the convoy
swiftly making its way back to Klarići. The scheduled lunch
stop - which featuring Istrian home-cooked food - started at
about three o'clock.
Between the two meal stops, the weather had really started
to brighten up, becoming much more sunny, and so it was an
ideal time to pause to look at the array of Alfa Romeos and
vote for them.

A light hearted vote by all the guests took place in five
categories: 1 - the most beautiful, 2 - the dirtiest, 3 -
the best sound of engine to 2000ccm, 4. for the best sound
of an engine over 2000cc and 5 - the best sound of a diesel
engine). After the voting took place we headed for the
restaurant to eat the main meal of the day, and hand out the
prizes.
The Alfa Klub President and the Vice-President thanked
everybody who attended the meeting - which far exceeded
expectations - and expressed their gratitude to the sponsors
of club, while representatives from the Slovenian and
Italian Clubs also spoke. At the end of the meeting the
prizes for owners' of whose Alfa Romeo cars took wins in the
five categories were shared out, and prizes were also
awarded to the guest who travelled from the furthest parts
of Croatia to attend. At the end we held a lottery, and this
meeting - conducted in a very friendly and great atmosphere
- finished soon after 9pm. The representatives of the Alfa
Klub would like to express their thanks to everybody who
attended, as well as the sponsors who donated prizes, the
bikers from Istria, and most of all to the members of the
Alfa Klub from Pula, who so ably helped in organising the
meeting.
