After claiming a team victory in the 75th edition of the classic Rallye Liege Rome Liege, the iconic Lamborghini Miura sportscar carried on celebrating its 40th birthday by winning the famous Montafon Rallye.

The 2005 edition of this event saw a record 164 teams participating in the event - all of them motivated to enjoy more than 500 km of mountain roads with passes up to 2032 meters high and with slopes with up to 13 percent inclines requiring excellent driving skills, and which put much stress on the brakes and engines.

The 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 S (no 94) driven by Martin Volke and Florian Klackl finished first overall with an amazing total of 512 points. A 1972 Miura P400 SV (no 95) driven by Lamborghini's design chief Luc Donckerwolke and Constantin Beims finished 6th in the 'youngtimer' class, finishing the event with 1232 points. The third ambassador of the house of the raging bull was a superb 1966 400 GT (no 50) from the Autostadt team driven by Joerg Reichle and Hans-Gerd Bode. They finished in 99th place with a total of 3817 points.

As is well known, 2005 and 2006 are the years of the Lamborghini Miura, which started this year to celebrate its 40th birthday. The Miura was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966 (although its chassis appeared for the first time at the Turin Motor Show in October 1965). More than 700 examples of the Lamborghini Miura were produced during its lifetime, in three different versions: P400, P 400 S and SV.

Next appointments to celebrate the Miura's anniversary will be the Ennstal Classic in Austria in the end of July, and the Concorso Italiano, which will take place in Monterey, California (USA) during August. During this event hundreds of Lamborghini models from every age will parade, together with sixty Lamborghini Miuras now based in the United States.
